Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 04/15/09 and Thursday, 04/16/09. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3501 Lake Austin Blvd Assault / Family Violence: A UT student, who was a resident of the apartment complex, got into an argument with her then boyfriend and father of their child. The student demanded the “boyfriend” leave the apartment. The “boyfriend” then used his fists to push the student against a wall causing redness, bruising and pain to the student's arms and shoulder. The “boyfriend” then threw a television remote controller at the student hitting her in the abdomen. The student left the apartment to call the police. Reported on 04/15/09 at 6:48 a.m. SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK BUILDING, 1925 San Jacinto Criminal Mischief: An unknown object was used to break a hole in a glass window pane located in a 2nd floor exterior door. Repair costs: $100.00. Occurred between 04/08/09 and 04/15/09 at 12 noon. TOWNES HALL, 727 East Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as “sleeping” on a couch in a 3rd floor room. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 04/16/09 at 1:17 a.m. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as “singing loudly” is a 3rd floor lounge that is reserved for use by faculty, staff and students. The aspiring American Idol contestant left the scene before officers arrived. The subject returned after a two-hour intermission and resumed his make-shift concert. This time, officers did not miss the encore. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. The opening act occurred on 04/15/09 at 8:45 a.m. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Credit Card Abuse: A UT staff member's credit card was used to pay for two Informal Classes courses without the credit card owner's permission. Loss value: $76.00. Reported on 04/15/09 at 11:19 a.m. 2300 San Jacinto Driving While Intoxicated: A non-UT subject was stopped after running a stop sign while driving a silver Toyota sport utility vehicle. The subject showed classic signs of intoxication. The subject obviously realized the futile nature of trying deny her degree of intoxication as during the application of the field sobriety test she exclaimed, “Take me to jail, I'm drunk.” The officer concurred with the subject's self-assessment and obliged her request. Occurred on 04/16/09 at 1:39 a.m. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 31 alarm calls, 1 unsecured door report, 1 public assist request, 1 collision report and 2 suspicious activity reports between 04/15/09 and 04/16/09. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license. BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community.
