Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 05/08/09 and Monday, 05/11/09. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo and a pillow case were stolen from a 2001 Honda that was parked on the 4th level of the parking garage. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 5-10-09, between 12:01 AM and 6:45 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (5 Counts): A UT staff member reported a female subject was having an extreme physical reaction to the over consumption of alcohol inside a first floor dormitory room. During the investigation, the officer discovered five subjects inside the dorm room and learned all five were under the age of 21 and had been drinking alcohol. The officer issued all five subjects a field release citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 5-11-09, at 3:29 AM. JOHN HARGIS HALL, 1811 Red River Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was observed wandering into and out of a construction site. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers that he was looking for his missing shirt. As the investigation continued, the officers soon learned that the subject had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant. The subject was taken into custody for the warrant and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-09-09, at 4:57 PM. MAIN BUILDING, #1 South Mall Public Intoxication / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Misrepresentation on Age by a Minor: A UT faculty member discovered a UT student passed out on the side walk located on the east side of the Main Building. The subject was unresponsive at first. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The student informed the officer that he was on the Gregory Gym Plaza and was heading home to sleep. The officer asked the student if there was someone he could call. The student pulled out a set of keys and began dialing a telephone number. He then placed the keys to his ear and told the officer no one was picking up. Austin EMS treated the subject at the scene for alcohol poisoning and transported him to a local area hospital for additional treatment. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the officer discovered the student had in his possession a second current Texas driver's license. Court summons for the criminal charges were requested by the officer. Occurred on: 5-08-09, at 6:52 PM. PARKING LOT 103, 2200 Block Comal Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A digital camera, briefcase, and prescription medication was stolen from a four-door Ford sedan. During the investigation, the officer learned that the vehicle could not be secured due to a broken door lock. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred on: 5-10-09, between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. 100 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed staggering back and forth as he attempted to maintain his balance while alternating between the sidewalk and the street. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The subject admitted that he had been drinking with his friends, but he did not know where there were or for that matter where he was. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-09-09, at 9:40 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Public Intoxication: A UT police officer observed a UT student laying face down on the sidewalk. The student was being attended to by four other UT students. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol and saw evidence that one student had had an extreme physical reaction to the over consumption of alcohol. With a mush mouthed dialect, the student laying on the ground denied having consumed any alcohol. She claimed to have had an allergic reaction to eggs. The officer did not see any evidence of eggs inside what can only be described as the “Splash Zone.” The student was released to her sober friends. Charges are pending. Occurred on: 5-09-09, at 12:40 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Criminal Trespass Warnings (9 Counts): A UT police officer observed six UT students swimming inside the Littlefield Fountain, and three additional UT students providing words of encouragement to the swimmers. During the investigation, the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the breaths of the students and determined all of the students were over the age of 21. The students informed the officer that they had completed their masters program and thought it would be fun to swim in the fountain. All nine students were issued Criminal Trespass Warnings and referrals to the Dean of Students. Occurred on: 5-10-09, at 2:08 AM. 2000 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Marijuana: A UT police officer observed a white Chevy Blazer commit several traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of burning marijuana inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The officer located a plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance that tested positive for THC. The UT student driver was taken into custody for Possession of Marijuana. During a search of her vehicle, the officers located an aspirin bottle that contained three Adderall capsules, three Hydrocodone pills and six Ketoprofen. Additional charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance were also filed after the subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-09-09, at 11:59 PM. 2100 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT police officer observed a non-UT subject rummaging through the trashcan located on the Gregory Gym Plaza. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer that he was simply looking for a cup, and was going to head over to the library to study. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 5-10-09, at 10:06 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 52 alarm calls, 1 fire alarm call, 2 “Police Help” call box activations, 4 suspicious activity reports, 3 suspicious person reports, 8 unsecured door reports and 3 public assist request and between 05/08/09 and 05/11/09
