Graduating Seniors reflecting on their past while looking to the future and faculty members who see the fruits of their labor in the faces of the cap and gown adorned graduates. Again, it is a wonderful time to be on campus. Sadly, the excitement, anticipation and nostalgia of this time on campus is also felt by those who see commencement as an opportunity to commit thefts. The campus will be teeming with faculty, staff, students, campus visitors, graduating students and their loved ones. People will be hustling from one ceremony to another. Buildings will be opened and closed at irregular times. This hullabaloo creates opportunity for thieves to commit thefts. Before tomorrow arrives, prepare your office. Take a little time today to make sure your office door locks and window locks are working. If your office has an alarm system, invest a few minutes to test the alarm system. Take an inventory of your office. Secure any expensive items inside a locked drawer or cabinet. Take your personal property home for the weekend. Before you leave for the day, double check to make sure your office windows are closed and locked, your alarm system is set up and the door to your office is closed and locked. If you find the alarm system is malfunctioning, or the locks to your windows and doors are not working, then contact UTPD at 471-4441.
