Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 06/30/09 and Wednesday, 07/01/09. JESTER CENTER ACADEMIC, 201 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as soliciting money from students between the PCL library and Jester Center. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 06/30/09 at 9:00 a.m. LITTLEFIELD HOUSE, 302 West 24th Street Criminal Trespass Warning / Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was reported as sleeping on the south side of the building. The subject was found to have four outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for pedestrian in the roadway, public intoxication, camping where prohibited and the consumption of alcohol in a prohibited area. In addition to other law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 06/30/09 at 3:07 p.m. 2400 Robert Dedman Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The right window was broken out of a red 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck while the truck was parked and unattended. Several items inside the vehicle had been disturbed. There were no items taken from the vehicle. Repair cost: $150.00. Occurred between 06/30/09 at 5:00 p.m. and 07/01/09 at 1:33 a.m. 300 West 24th Street Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT officer observed a passenger of a green 2003 Saturn step out of the vehicle and then get back into the vehicle while the vehicle waited at a stop light. Upon driving closer to the vehicle, the officer could detect the distinct odor of burning marijuana. The officer allowed the vehicle to drive a distance away and lost the scent of burning marijuana. After the vehicle stopped in a lane of traffic for no apparent reason, the officer was able to drive near the vehicle and again detect the odor of burning marijuana. After stopping the vehicle, the officer could detect a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. One of the three non-UT occupants of the vehicle handed the officer a partially burned blunt, or marijuana cigar if you will. Additional marijuana, totaling .09 ounces, and a grinding device used to prepare marijuana for consumption were then found inside the vehicle. Occurred on 07/01/09 at 1:00 a.m. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 11 alarm calls, 4 “Police Callbox” activations, 1 motor vehicle collision, 1 public assist request, 1 medical emergency assist, 1 light malfunction report and 4 unsecured door reports between 06/30/09 and 07/01/09. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license. BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community.
