Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 07/03/09 and Monday, 07/06/09 BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3300 Lake Austin Blvd. Suspicious Activity: A UT student reported an unknown subject had been knocking on her apartment door. The unknown subject refused to answer the student when she asked who was knocking. The student did not open her door and notified the police department. During the investigation, the officers searched the area and were unable to locate the unknown subject. Occurred on: 7-06-09, at 1:32 AM. ERNEST COCKRELL JR. HALL, 301 East Dean Keeton Suspicious Person: Several staff members reported an unknown subject would “meander” into and out of their offices. The subject would inspect everything, then collect candy samples from all of the candy bowls located within the offices. The unknown subject was described as: Black male, and was last seen wearing a long sleeve shirt and pants. Occurred on: 7-03-09, at 2:43 PM. ERNEST COCKRELL JR. HALL, 301 East Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered inside a restricted area after the building had closed. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer he was there to tutor UT students. However, the subject could not find a student that he was there to tutor. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the building. Occurred on: 7-04-09, at 10:12 PM. PARKING LOT 38, 2300 Red River Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A grey Kodak digital camera was removed from the center console of a Ford Explorer. During the investigation, the officer learned the driver's side lock had been forced open causing it to malfunction. As the investigation continued, the victim stated that the thief would have a bigger surprise when they discovered the camera was in fact broken since it had gotten damaged after getting wet. Loss value: $100.00. Damage to the vehicle: $200.00. Occurred on: 7-05-09, between 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM. TOWNES HALL, 727 Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT police officer located a non-UT subject sitting inside the student lounge. During the investigation, the officer soon learned that the subject was not a student or staff member. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 7-05-09, at 10:35 AM. 1500 BLOCK SAN ANTONIO Assist Outside Agency / Public Intoxication: A UT police officer observed a subject staggering and stumbling as he fought the effects of Earth's gravity. The officer saw that the subject's gallant effort was in vain. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol and learned that the subject had been drinking at several local establishments located in the downtown area. As the investigation continued, the officer soon learned that the subject had several outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for Public Intoxication and DWI. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication as well as the outstanding Outside Agency warrants and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-06-09, at 1:12 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 24 alarm calls, 2 fire alarm responses, 8 public assist requests, 1 medical emergency assist, 3 suspicious activity reports, 1 suspicious person report, 1 light malfunction report and 19 unsecured door reports between 07/03/09 and 07/06/09.
