Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 07/15/09 and Thursday, 07/16/09. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, 2110 Speedway Theft: Two Mino digital flip cameras were stolen from a 3rd floor office while the cameras were plugged into a desktop computer to charge the batteries. Loss value: $400.00. Occurred between 07/14/09 at 5:00 p.m. and 07/15/09 at 7:30 a.m. JESTER CENTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street False Alarm: An unknown person activated a fire alarm pull station located in a 5th floor hallway when there was in fact no fire or emergency situation. The fire alarm activation caused the building to be evacuated and generated an emergency response from the UT Police Department and the Austin Fire Department. At the time of the fire alarm, the only occupants of the dormitory were a group of people staying on the 6th floor as part of a summer leadership program. Occurred on 07/15/09 at 12:29 p.m. LITTLEFIELD HOME, 302 West 24th Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was found sleeping in an exterior stairwell that leads to a basement level entrance to the building. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 07/16/09 at 1:57 a.m. UNIVERSITY OUTREACH CENTER, 6207 Sheridan Harassment: A staff member received 6 unwanted telephone calls to her 3rd floor office telephone that the staff member found offensive. The telephone calls occurred over a 10 minute time period. Occurred on 07/15/09 between 1:30 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 20 alarm calls, 1 “Police Help” call box alarm, 1 fire alarm, 2 suspicious activity reports, 1 light malfunction report, 2 public assist requests and 1 unsecured door report between 07/15/09 and 07/16/09. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license. BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks.
