Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 08/31/09 and Tuesday, 09/01/09. BELMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Theft: A silver IPod nano was stolen from an unsecured 2nd floor office. During the investigation, the officer learned the former owner had been downloading songs onto the device and left the office for several hours. Upon her return, the IPod was gone. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 8-31-09, 4:45 PM and 7:15 PM. BIOLOGICAL LABORATORIES, 205 West 24th Street Theft: A black Gary Fisher mountain bicycle quick release lever was stolen from the bike racks located on the south side of the building. Loss value: $5.00. Occurred on: 8-31-09, between 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM. MEZES HALL, #5 South Mall Burglary of Coin-Operated Machine: A UT staff member entered a third floor women's rest room and discovered an unknown subject prying a feminine hygiene dispenser from the wall. The unknown subject informed the staff member that it was ok for him to be there that he had been sent there to repair the machine. The staff member clued in on the fact that the subject was not wearing a UT Physical Plant uniform and notified the UT Police Department. Prior to the arrival of the officers, the unknown subject left the area. The unknown subject was described as: Black male, 30 years of age, and last seen wearing a white polo style shirt and a ballcap. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Occurred on: 8-31-09, at 11:52 AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101East 21st Street Theft: A black backpack containing, several drawing books and a novel were stolen after being left unattended on top of a table located on the 6th floor for 10 minutes. Loss value: $45.00. Occurred: 8-31-09, between 12:10 PM and 12:20 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 17 alarm calls, 2 fire alarms, 3 public assist requests, 1 light malfunction report, 3 welfare concern report, and 2 unsecured door reports between 08/31/09 and 09/01/09.
