Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 10/12/09 and Tuesday, 10/13/09. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A UT student placed his wallet, cellular telephone and dorm key on the floor and left them unattended next to a volleyball court. After playing volleyball for an hour he discovered his HTC Fuse cellular telephone and wallet containing personal identification, $20.00 in cash and several credit cards had been stolen. Loss value: $320.00. Occurred on: 10-11-09, between 8:45 PM and 9:45 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: News Flash ya'll, there is a thief working inside Gregory Gym. 99% of the reported thefts inside Gregory Gym could have been prevented by using a simple devise that was invented by the Egyptians and is very common today. This devise is called a lock. STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING, 100 West Dean Keeton Theft: A red and black Schwinn mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $250.00. Occurred on: 10-12-09, between 12:15 PM and 6:30 PM. W.C. HOGG BUILDING, #2 East Mall Harassment: A UT staff member reported receiving several harassing and abusive telephone calls from a non-UT subject. The subject became incensed when he learned his former degree plan would not transfer to his desired degree plan and lashed out at the staff member. The staff member hung up on the subject and notified the police department. While on the telephone with the police, the subject left three additional voice messages. Charges are pending. Occurred on: 10-12-09, at 2:30 PM. 700 BLOCK CONGRESS Public Intoxication: A UT staff member reported a non-UT subject was seen stumbling and staggering through the System's Plaza. The staff member thought the subject had passed out while sitting at a bus stop. During the investigation, the officers located the subject a few blocks away stumbling into on-coming traffic. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath and noted his eyes were glassy. When asked, the subject believed he was in Oregon. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-13-09, at 12:51 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 19 alarm calls, 3 public assist calls and 2 unsecure door reports between 10/12/09 and 10/13/09.
