Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday 01/19/10 and Wednesday, 01/20/10 ACES BUILDING, 201 East 21st Street Criminal Mischief: A UT faculty member discovered a poster glued to the exterior window of his third floor office. During the investigation additional posters were found glued to the exterior windows of Taylor Hall. Damage value: Unknown at this time. Discovered on: 1-19-10, at 9:05 AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A black backpack containing a French-English dictionary and other personal property was stolen after being left unattended on a bench located on the PCL patio. During the investigation, the officer located a witness. The witness stated an unknown subject approached him and asked if the backpack sitting on the bench belonged to him. The witness stated the subject then took the backpack into PCL, claiming he was going to turn it in to the Lost and Found desk. The unknown subject was described as: Hispanic male, 5'-08”, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The subject had about three days growth of beard and was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket. Loss value: $42.00. Occurred on: 1-19-10, at 12:40 PM. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Theft: A silver Apple iTouch cellular telephone was stolen after being left unattended next to a window table inside the Cypress Bend Café. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred on: 1-19-10, between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: Skimmer Scam, this scam was brought to our attention six years ago, and last Friday we received information this scam was discovered in California. The University of Texas Police Department would like to commend the university community, including the parents, in helping to achieve this significant accomplishment.
