Report for 01/28/2010

Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 01/27/10 and Thursday, 01/28/10. *****Program Spotlight**** Make Your Mark Program Theft is a huge concern on this campus, just as it is on just about any campus. A good method to help prevent theft and to assist law enforcement with the recovery of your lost or stolen property is to mark your property with your state issued driver's license number or state issued identification card number. The University of Texas would like to assist faculty, staff and students as much as possible with the marking of their property. To that end, please consider inviting the UT Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit to your student organization, staff meeting or event to hold a Make Your Mark party. In this program, we will bring out numerous electric engravers. After a brief discussion concerning the importance of marking your property, we will allow you to practice engraving on a piece of metal and a piece of plastic before you take your turn to engrave your MP3 player, cell phone, camera, laptop computer, stereo, television, desktop computer, microwave oven, bicycle, refrigerator or whatever items you bring to the party. Effective August 26, 2009, this database of cell phone numbers will be used for emergency text messages.
