Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Thursday, 03/11/10 and Friday, 03/12/10. BELMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd. Criminal Trespass / Public Intoxication / Evading Arrest: A UT police officer observed a non-UT subject attempting to conceal himself behind a statue located on the northwest portion of the building. The subject ran from the area into Belmont Hall when he realized he had been seen. Officers searched the area and located the subject hiding inside an unsecured fourth floor classroom. The subject again ran from the police officers and attempted to evade them by running down the northwest ramp. To his surprised he was greeted by two additional officers coming up the ramp. The subject was taken into custody for Evading Arrest. During the investigation, the officers learned the subject had been issued a prior Criminal Trespass Warning for another building and detected a very strong odor of alcohol of the subject's breath. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-14-10, at 12:30 AM. FRANK ERWIN CENTER, 1701 Red River Assault: A non-UT subject reported his hind quarter had been pinched by another non-UT subject as he passed him. During the investigation, the suspect explained to the officers the entire incident had happened by accident as he had not intended to pinch anyone's gluteus maximus. While the suspect was speaking to the officer, two additional victims informed the officers they had also felt the presence of a pincher behind them. Due to the suspect's age, he was released into the custody of his father. Occurred on: 3-13-10, at 10:23 PM. HOGG MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM, 2300 Whitis Ave Theft: An orange colored wallet containing personal identification, several credit cards, and $150.00 in cash were stolen from a purse while the victim was attending a concert. During the investigation, the victim stated she was sitting next to an unknown male subject who was constantly reaching down between their shared spaces to retrieve his drink. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred on: 3-14-10, between 8:10 PM and 11:00 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Suspicious Activity / Assault: A UT staff member witnessed a female student holding the wrists of an unknown male subject while a second female walked away crying. The unknown male was yelling for the female to let go. When the staff member informed the students that the police were on their way, the unknown male subject left the area while informing everyone that he had warrants. The officers searched the area for the unknown subject. The female student would not provide the officers with any details about the events leading up to the staff member requesting the police. Occurred on: 3-14-10, at 3:42 AM. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Graffiti: Words written in black permanent marker were discovered in separate locations on the 7th level of the garage. Damage value: $150.00. Discovered on: 3-14-10, at 4:00 PM. SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK, 1925 San Jacinto Blvd. Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the east side of the building. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 3-15-10, at 12:31 AM. TRINITY PARKING GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Forgery: A UT staff member reported receiving a suspicious looking US $10.00 bill. During the investigation the officer was able to determine the suspicious bill was a counterfeit after testing it. Loss value: $10.00. Occurred on: 3-12-10, at 7:57 AM. WEST PICKEL RESEARCH, 3925 West Braker Lane Criminal Trespass / Unlawful Carrying Weapons / Assist Outside Agency: UT Police Officers discovered a non-UT subject had established a campsite within a restricted area. When the officers arrived, the subject was sleeping inside one of the tents erected on site. The officers discovered the subject was in possession of a 5 ½ inch dagger which was concealed next to his sleeping bag. The subject was taken into custody. As the investigation continued, the officers learned the subject had two outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants for Forgery and Speeding. The subject was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the officers charged the subject with Criminal Trespass. Occurred on: 3-14-10, at 7:38 PM. 100 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was reported sitting at the E-bus stop moaning, spitting and leaning from side to side. During the investigation, the officers located the subject and witnessed him spitting on his shirt then attempt to flag down the E-bus as it pulled away. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath and noticed his glassy red rimmed eyes. The subject admitted to having consumed 8 to 10 shots and becoming separated from his friends. The subject did not know where he was. Officers took the subject into custody for Public Intoxication and transported him to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-13-10, at 2:53 AM. 300 BLOCK WEST 24th STREET Purchase of Alcohol for a Minor / Public Intoxication / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT police officer observed two UT students staggering back and forth as they attempted to hold each other in an up-right position to maneuver between their navigational landmarks. The officers noticed both subjects were wearing the evidence of having had an extreme physical reaction to the over-consumption of an alcoholic beverage. The officers learned one subject was under the legal age of 21, while the other was of legal age. Both had been to several local downtown establishments where the older subject admitted to purchasing alcohol for his younger date. Both subjects were unsure as to where they were or what time or day it was. Both subjects were taken into custody for Public Intoxication / and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Purchase of Alcohol for a Minor. Both were transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-14-10, at 1:58 AM. 600 BLOCK COLORADO Assist Outside Agency / Disorderly Conduct- Fighting: A UT staff member reported several non-UT subjects were engaged in fist-a-cuffs with each other. Two suspects were attempting to choke each other out, while the others were exchanging punches. All four subjects were taken into custody and released to the Austin Police Department for Disorderly Conduct- Fighting. Occurred on: 3-15-10, at 2:35 AM. 2200 BLOCK SAN ANTONIO Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student contacted the UT Police asking for assistance with an intoxicated UT student. The officers learned that both students had been on 6th Street and had consumed adult beverages, and that the suspect had gotten mad at her boyfriend and decided to walk back to her dorm. Once at her dorm, she left and ran into her boyfriend. Still mad, she did not want to be around him and again tried to leave. A sober friend was contacted to escort the female back to her dormitory after receiving a citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 3-13-10, at 4:02 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 28 Alarm Calls, 2 “Police Help” Call Box Activations, 1 Suspicious Package Report, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 3 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Medical Emergency Assist, 1 Welfare Concern Report and 2 Unsecured Door Report between 03/12/10 and 03/15/10.
