Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 03/26/10 and Monday, 03/29/10. Featured Service: Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is a partnership among the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT Police Officer found two UT students sitting on the south side of the parking garage. Both students attempted to conceal objects in their hands. The items were later identified as a light and a glass pipe containing unburned marijuana. One subject was in possession of a bag that contained additional marijuana. Both subjects were issued field release citations. Occurred on: 3-28-10, at 5:20 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Public Intoxication / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student was reported to be passed out and occupying three chairs in the process. During the investigation, the student informed the officers that she had attended a “Round Up” event and had consumed “too much” alcohol. The officer issued the subject a field release citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and released her to a sober friend. Occurred on: 3-27-10, at 7:11 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A black colored Blackberry cellular telephone was stolen after being left unattended inside an 8th floor women's restroom. Loss value: 300.00. Occurred on: 3-27-10 between, 8:00 PM and 8:10 PM. LITTLEFIELD HOUSE, 302 West 24th Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was found sleeping next to the building in an established campsite. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 3-29-10, at 1:45 AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student discovered two textbooks had been stolen from a secured locker located on the 6th floor. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between 2-25-10 and 3-26-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student discovered three textbooks were stolen from inside a secured locker located on the 6th floor. Loss value: $35.00. Occurred between: 3-25-10 and 3-29-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student discovered five textbooks were stolen from inside a secured locker located on the 5th floor. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between: 3-26-10 and 3-27-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student discovered four textbooks along with $20.00 in change were stolen from inside a secured locker located on the 6th floor. Loss value: $145.00. Occurred between: 3-12-10 and 3-26-10. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Public Intoxication / Possession of More than One Driver's License: A UT student was found passed out across a picnic table located on the north side of the building. The officer noted the subject had a very strong odor of alcohol on his person and he was laying in a small pool of drool. After each question the officer asked the subject, the answer was the same, Dallas. When asked for his ID or Driver's License, the subject handed the officer his health card, YMCA membership, and several credit cards. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication. The subject was found to be in possession of more than one valid State of Texas Driver's License. Subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-26-10, at 3:11 AM. SUTTON HALL, 210 West 21st Street Theft: A blue Specialized mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the north side of the building after being secured with a self locking cable lock. Loss value: $560.00. Occurred on: 3-26-10, between 1:40 PM and 2:50 PM. TEXAS SWIM CENTER, 1900 Red River Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member discovered a non-UT subject sleeping on the south side of the building. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 3-27-10, at 9:17 AM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member reported a non-UT subject was sleeping on the ground near one of the east side entrances. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers that he was waiting for another restaurant to open and fell asleep. The subject was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 3-27-10, at 4:18 PM. 300 BLOCK WEST 22nd STREET Possession of Marijuana / Public Intoxication / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student needed the support of two additional UT students in order to maintain his balance and stagger somewhat straighter into on-coming traffic. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on one student's breath while only detecting a moderate odor of alcohol on the other two. Due to the intoxication level of one of the students, he was treated at the scene by EMS and transported to a local area hospital. Prior to being transported, the officers saw a clear plastic baggie sticking out of the student's pocket. The baggie contained suspected marijuana. Charges for Possession of Marijuana and Public Intoxication are pending. The officers issued the other two students field release citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 3-28-10, at 3:24 AM. 300 BLOCK EAST 24th STREET Suspicious Activity / Evading Detention: A UT Police Officer observed two unknown subjects drop several items into the roadway and change their direction of travel as the officer drove closer to them. The subjects took off at a dead run when the officer ordered them to stop. Several officers searched the area with negative results. The dropped items, two five liter containers of wine and 10 unopened cans of beer were confiscated. The unknown subjects were described as: Hispanic males, one subject was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and a pink hat. The other subject was last seen wearing a blue and white striped shirt. Occurred on: 3-17-10, at 3:17 AM. 1800 BLOCK GUADALUPE Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of More than One Valid DL: A black Chevy SUV was seen travelling without its headlamps on. During the traffic investigation, the non-UT driver had a difficult time locating his Driver's License even though it was being displayed in the window of his wallet. The officer soon learned the DL being displayed did not belong to the driver. The driver removed his DL from his pants pocket. The subject was taken into custody for Possession of More than One Valid Driver's License. After being taken into custody, the officer discovered the subject was in possession of Adderall that was not prescribed to him. Subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-28-10, at 3:24 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 43 Alarm Calls, 5 Call Box activations, 3 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 EMS calls, 1 Welfare call, and 5 Unsecure Door Reports between 03/26/10 and 03/29/10.
