Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 03/26/10 and Monday, 03/29/10. Featured Service: Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is a partnership among the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks. AT&T CONFERNCE CENTER, 1900 University Ave Burglary of Coin-Operated Machine: A staff member discovered a coin-operated machine inside the first floor women's restroom has been forced open. During the investigation the officer was unable to determine if any product was missing. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Discovered on: 3-29-10, at 1:33 PM. CENTENNIAL PARK, 1620 Red River Graffiti: A word and numbers were discovered spray painted in various colors onto a retaining wall located on the south portion of the property. Estimated damaged: $500.00. Discovered on: 3-29-10, at 9:26 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Possession of Controlled Substance / Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT staff member found a black purse containing a credit card and a clear baggie that contained a green leafy substance the staff member recognized as marijuana. During the investigation, the officer inventoried the purse and discovered a broken glass pipe that contained marijuana residue as well a yellow and blue pill. The pills were later identified as: Hydrocodone and Xanax. Charges to be filed. Occurred on: 3-30-10, at 1:30 AM. PARLIN HALL, #2 South Mall Burglary: A MacBook laptop computer was stolen from a secured second floor office. Loss value: $1,000.00. Occurred between: 3-25-10 and 3-29-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member reported the locking device and drawer to a locker located on the 6th floor had been damaged. Estimated damage: $10.00. Reported on 3-29-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported two textbooks were stolen from her secured locker located on the third floor. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred between: 3-24-10 and 3-29-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A red KHS mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the northeast portion of the building after being secured with a U-shaped lock. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between 3-12-10, and 3-29-10. UNIVERISITY POLICE BUILDING, 2201 Robert Dedman Dr. Harassment: A UT student reported receiving harassing and annoying emails from an unknown subject. The student went on to report the emails were sent to his friends as well. Reported on: 3-29-10. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 105 West 21st Street Criminal Mischief / Graffiti: A chalk inscription and an ink drawing were discovered inside a stairwell between the 1st and 2nd floor. Estimated Damage: $100.00. Occurred between: 3-24-10 and 3-30-10. WOOLRIDGE HALL, 600 West 24th Street Graffiti: A UT Police Officer discovered letters spray painted in several locations around the building. Estimated damage: $150.00. Occurred between: 3-7-10 and 3-30-10. 2000 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Theft: A white colored Mercier road bicycle was stolen after being attached to a pole, located along the east curb line, with a U-shaped lock. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between: 3-26-10 and 3-27-10. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 15 Alarm Calls, 2 Fire Alarm calls, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 EMS calls, 1 Welfare call, and 4 Unsecure Door Reports between 03/29/10 and 03/30/10.
