Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 03/30/10 and Wednesday, 03/31/10. Featured Service: Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is a partnership among the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks. GOLDSMITH HALL, #5 West Mall Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member reported a non-UT subject wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans appeared to be sleeping next to a tree inside a planter box. The subject did not respond to constant verbal encouragements to wake up. The subject continued to maintain its inanimate sleeping composure and refused to respond. Officers were soon to discover the subject was actually made out of last week's news and glue. The papier-mâché mannequin was removed to a more appropriate location, the trash can. Occurred on: 3-31-10, at 6:39 AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A black iPhone with a pink gel cover was stolen after being left unattended on top of a desk next to the owner. During the investigation, the officer learned the victim had not left the area, but had been studying on the second floor. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on: 3-30-10, between 8:30 PM and 8:45 PM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported 10 textbooks were stolen from a locker located on the 3rd floor. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred between: 3-24-10, and 3-30-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported two textbooks were stolen from inside a secured locker located on the 6th floor. Loss value: $105.00. Occurred between: 3-11-10, and 3-29-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported two textbooks were stolen from inside a secured locker located on the 5th floor. Loss value: $140.00. Occurred between: 3-11-10, and 3-29-10 UNIVERSITY ADMINSTRATIVE BUILDING, 1616 Guadalupe Theft: A blue and white Fuji road bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the northeast side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on: 3-30-10, between 12:01 PM and 3:00 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 EMS calls, 1 Welfare call, and 0 Unsecure Door Reports between 03/30/10 and 03/31/10.
