Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 03/31/10 and Thursday, 04/01/10. Featured Service: Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is a partnership among the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks. ALMETRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Theft: A Giant mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the northeast side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. The officer learned the subject had a U-shaped lock, but had left it attached to the bike frame. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between: 3-26-10, and 3-29-10. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A grey Acer laptop computer was reported stolen from inside a secure locker located on the 6th floor. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 3-29-10, and 3-31-10. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Disorderly Conduct- Offensive Gesture or Display: A UT student reported an unknown subject was seen manipulating the front of his pants. When she realized what the subject was doing she became offended. The subject left the area prior to the arrival of the officers. The unknown subject was described as: older white male, clean shaven, and slicked back grey hair. The subject was last seen wearing tan pants and a colored shirt. Occurred on: 3-31-10, at 11:41 PM. 2300 GUADALUPE Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was seen stumbling and requiring the assistance of a well placed retaining wall to maintain his balance. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The subject had left evidence next to the wall that he had performed a bodily function. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 4-01-10, at 12:20 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 Alarm Calls, 1 Call Box Activation, 3 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 EMS calls, and 1 Unsecure Door Reports between 03/31/10 and 04/01/10.
