Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 04/02/10 and Monday, 04/05/10. ALMETRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was seen sitting on the retaining wall located next to the bike rack. The officers learned the subject was in possession of a tool commonly used for the commission of a bike theft. The officers issued the subject a Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted him from the area. Occurred on: 4-04-10, at 10:45 PM. IMTRAMURAL FIELDS, 4901 Guadalupe Possession of Alcohol by a Minor (5 Counts) / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (5 Counts): A UT Police Officer discovered 5 non-UT subjects in the southeast portion of the property laughing and having a good time. The officers found a 1.75L plastic bottle of Vodka lying on the grass next to all 5 subjects. The officers soon learned all 5 subjects were under the legal age of 21 and had consumed ¾ of the bottle of Vodka. All subjects were issued court appearance citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 4-04-10, at 2:00 AM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Possession of More than One Valid DL: A UT student discovered a small metal pipe sitting next to clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance (later identified as marijuana) inside his dormitory room. Charges are pending. Occurred on: 4-04-10, at 6:44 PM. LIVING LEARNING CENTER, 2610 Whitis Ave Theft: A silver colored Mongoose mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks inside the courtyard after being secured with a chain and padlock. Loss value: $55.00. Occurred on: 3-30-10, between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. SUTTON HALL, 210 West 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported a Gerber Leatherman and a Gerber multi-tool were stolen from a secured third floor studio. Loss value: $120.00. Occurred on: 4-2-10, between 1:30 AM and 8:30 AM. SUTTON HALL, 210 West 21st Street Theft: A black and red Fujitsu laptop computer, Apple iPod, and an external hard drive were stolen from a 3rd floor studio. Loss value: $1,000.00. Occurred between: 4-01-10 and 4-02-10. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Attempted Burglary / Public Intoxication / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT student reported a non-UT subject was attempting to break into Goldsmith Hall and the subject was now inside the Texas Union Building. Officers searched the area and located a subject inside a restricted 3rd floor room. The subject was very lethargic and officers quickly determined the subject was intoxicated. Officers soon discovered the subject was in possession four syringes as well as two tunicates. Officers took the subject into custody for Public Intoxication and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and transported him to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 4-03-10, at 9:45 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member reported a subject involved in a previous criminal offense was seen inside a restricted area on the 3rd floor. Officers located the subject and issued him a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 4-03-10, at 12:22 AM. 300 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor: A grey BMW was observed committing several traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The officer learned the driver, a UT student, was under the legal age of 21. The subject was issued a court appearance citation for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor and was released at the scene after his vehicle was impounded. Occurred on: 4-03-10, at 3:35 AM. 800 BLOCK CLYDE LITTLEFIELD Disregard Police Officer: A non-UT subject stopped his vehicle in a traffic lane causing the traffic flow to stop. The officer repeatedly told the subject to move his vehicle along. The subject informed the officer that he was going to retrieve his umbrella. The subject was issued a field release citation for Disregarding a Police Officer. Occurred on: 4-02-10, at 4:50 PM. 2300 BLOCK GUADALUPE Assault / Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer observed UT student and a non-UT subject arguing loudly as the non-UT subject was attempting to walk away from the UT student. The UT student pushed the non-UT subject as she tried to walk around the student. Both subjects were stopped, and the officers learned the subjects had been involved in a relationship which had dissolved. The Austin Police Department was notified and both subjects were released to APD. Occurred on: 4-3-10, at 10:23 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 39 Alarm Calls, 10 Call box activations, 2 Fire Calls, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2EMS calls, and 6 Unsecure Door Reports between 04/02/10 and 04/05/10.
