Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Monday, 04/26/10 and Tuesday, 04/27/10. Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is a partnership among the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks. ADMINSTRATIVE MESSAGE The University of Texas at Austin Police Department would like to thank everyone that took time out of their schedule to talk to the on-site assessment team as we went through a program to maintain our accreditation status. The assessment results will be released sometime this week. Again Thank You for your continued support of our department. DRAMA TURN-A-ROUND, 2300 Block San Jacinto Blvd. Suspicious Activity / Harassment: A non-UT subject was reported to be driving around in circles around the Drama Turn-A-Round. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers that he was following his heart and his heart had told him to go to UT. Shortly after the police officers left, the subject contacted a UT student and informed her he was in town looking for her but had been stopped by the UT Police Department and he had to leave. The student notified the UT Police Department she was being harassed by the same subject who had been stopped earlier. Occurred on: 4-26-10, at 9:55 PM. GOLDSMITH HALL, #5 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: Two non-UT subjects were reported attempting to gain entry into Goldsmith Hall by pulling on several secured exterior doors. During the investigation, the subjects were located a short distance from Goldsmith. Both subjects informed the officers they were headed to a church that serves breakfast at 5:30 AM. Both subjects were issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning for the area. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, one subject was found to be in possession of a blue metal pipe that contained illegal drug residue. The pipe was confiscated and the subject was issued a field release citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Occurred on: 4-27-10, at 12:05 AM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A white Apple iPhone with a black protective case was reported stolen after being left unsecured on top of a bleacher while the owner played basketball. Loss value: $400.00. Occurred on: 4-26-10, between 10:30 PM and 11:59 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A black Apple iPhone was removed from a gym bag. The gym bag was left unattended on a bleacher while the owner was playing basketball. Loss value: $250.00. Occurred between: 4-25-10, at 11:00 PM and 4-26-10, at 1:00 AM. LIVING LEARNING CENTER E, 2610 Whitis Ave Theft: A black Alex mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the east side of the building E after being secured with a U-shaped lock and a self-locking cable lock. During the investigation, the officer located the U-lock laying on the ground and the cable lock cut in half. Loss value: $375.00. Occurred between: 4-23-10 and 4-25-10. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was reported to be looking into parked vehicles inside the parking garage. During the investigation, the subject became visibly and verbally agitated with the officers. Officers soon learned the subject had been issued a number of previous Criminal Trespass Warnings for a number of locations on campus. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued another written Criminal Trespass Warning for the garage. Occurred on: 4-26-10, at 11:15 PM. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Criminal Trespass Warning (2 Counts): Two non-UT subjects were reported to be sleeping under the staircase located in the southeast portion of the building. During the investigation, both subjects were issued written Criminal Trespass Warnings and were escorted from the area. Occurred on: 4-26-10, at 4:41 PM. WAGGENER HALL, 2210 Speedway Theft: A dark grey Bebe jacket containing a digital recorder, credit card and personal identification was stolen when it was left in an unsecured 1st floor classroom during a scheduled examination. Loss value: $125.00. Occurred on 04/06/10 between 3:15 PM and 3:25 PM. Reported on 04/26/10 at 1:00 PM. 1900 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Theft: A white K2 mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on east side of the Education Building after the front tire of the bicycle had been secured to the bike rack with a U-lock. Loss value: $250.00. Occurred between: 4-23-10, and 4-26-10. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 22 Alarm Calls, 1 “Police Help” Call Box Alarm, 1 Medical Emergency Assist, 1 Welfare Concern Report and 5 Unsecured Door Reports between 04/26/10 and 04/27/10.
