Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Tuesday, 05/11/10 and Wednesday, 5/12/10. Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is a partnership among the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks. ALMETRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Possession of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT staff member reported finding suspected marijuana inside a 4th floor dormitory room. During the investigation, the officers located the resident and performed a consent search of the room. During the search the officers located an unopened can of beer. The subject was issued a field release citation for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. As for the suspected marijuana- it was tobacco that had been allegedly removed from a Black and Mild in order for the subject to make a Blunt. Occurred on: 5-11-10, at 7:36 PM. GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, 100 East 21st Street Theft: A black Dell backpack containing a brown leather wallet, personal identification and several credit cards was reported stolen from inside a 4th floor study area. During the investigation, the officer learned the backpack had not been left unattended while the victim was studying. The officer searched the area and located the subject's backpack sitting on a table next to another UT student. The suspect stated he had picked up the backpack thinking it was his. The victim at this time declined to file charges. Loss value (Recovered): $20.00. Occurred on: 5-12-10, between 1:30 AM and 3:00 AM. PERRY-CASTENDADA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A green colored IPod Touch was reported stolen after being left unsecured and unattended inside a backpack on the 5th floor. Loss value: $250.00. Occurred on: 5-11-10, between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. TOWNES HALL, 727 East Dean Keeton Assault by Contact: A UT staff member reported she and another UT staff member had gotten into a verbal argument over the proper way to clean a bathroom. The argument led to the second staff member assaulting the victim. Occurred on: 5-3-10, at 5:35 PM. Reported on: 5-11-10. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the north side of the building. During the investigation, the subject claimed he had missed his bus. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 5-12-10, at 3:18 AM. 2100 BLOCK COMAL Criminal Trespass: A UT staff member observed a non-UT subject approaching several UT students standing at the bus stop and begin asking them for money. During the investigation, the officers discovered the subject had received several prior Criminal Trespass Warnings for various locations on campus. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-11-10, at 9:25 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 24 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Activity reports, 2 Call box activations, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 05/11/10 and 05/12/10.
