Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Thursday, 5/20/10 and Friday, 5/21/10. Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is a partnership among the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks. Come join us on Face Book at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/utaustinpolice ENGINEERING TEACHING CENTER, 204 East Dean Keeton Theft: A brown leather wallet containing several credit cards was stolen from an unsecured purse located inside an unsecured 8th floor office. During the investigation, the wallet was located inside a men's restroom located inside SSB. Loss value: Recovered. Occurred on: 5-20-10, between 10:00 AM and 10:10 AM. 100 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a UT student staggering as he attempted to walk across the East Mall. The officer saw the subject stop and it appeared as if the student was watering the parched earth. When the subject was stopped, he explained to the officer that he was hanging out with…then pointed to the bushes. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath and noted his eyes were bloodshot. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-21-10, at 2:49 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST 6th STREET Evading Arrest or Detention / Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a non-UT subject attempting to support himself while exhibiting the classical signs of having an involuntary physical reaction to the over-consumption of alcohol. When the subject had finished adding compost, he saw the police officer standing near-by. The subject tried to stagger away. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer that he did not have any identification with him, and as the officer started to remove a notebook from his pocket, the subject took off in a staggering run. After about 100 feet, the subject tripped and fell. The subject was taken into custody for Evading Arrest or Detention and Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-21-10, at 1:27 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 21 Alarm Calls, 1 Suspicious Activity Report, and 7 Unsecured Door Reports between 05/20/10 and 05/21/10.
