Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 5/21/10 and Monday, 5/24/10. *****ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ****** Are you a Fan of the University of Texas Police Department? Come join us on Face Book at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/utaustinpolice GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway case #1005541 Theft: A UT student reported the theft of her personal property from an unknown location within the gym. When the officer arrived, RSC staff members had located the subject's bag inside the men's restroom. The student inventoried her property and discovered a gold chain and $60.00 in cash was missing. Loss value: $110.00. Occurred on: 5-21-10, between 4:00 PM and 4:45 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway case #1005541 Theft: A silver colored Motive mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the south side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred between: 4-22-10 and 5-21-10. JOHNSON WILDFLOWER CENTER, 4801 La Crosse Theft: A black Samsung Solstice cellular telephone was stolen after it was left unsecured inside a cargo holder of a golf cart. During the investigation, the victim observed two non-UT subjects standing near the vehicle prior to the theft. When the victim returned, only one subject was still in the area. The subject was detained until the officers arrived. The officer was unable to locate the stolen cellular telephone or the second suspect. Loss value: $75.00. Occurred on: 5-23-10, between 1:00 PM and 1:05 PM. PATTERSON LABS, 2415 Speedway Theft: A red colored electric bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on: 5-23-10, between 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 105 West 21st Street Graffiti: A UT Police Officer discovered words written in ink on the stairwell between the 3rd and 4th floor. Damage loss: $50.00. Discovered on: 5-23-10, at 1:07 AM. WATSON HOUSE, 500 East 18th Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member reported several subjects were seen jumping over a locked and secured gate. During the investigation, the officer located three non-UT subjects enjoying a picnic after a graduation ceremony. The subjects were issued verbal Criminal Trespass Warnings and were escorted from the area. Occurred on: 5-22-10, at 10:50 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Leaving the Scene Collision: A UT student discovered his motorcycle had been damaged on the left side of the bike. It appeared as if the motor cycle had been hit or pushed over. Damage loss: $1,500.00. Discovered on: 5-21-10, at 4:04 PM. 600 BLOCK COLORADO Public Intoxication: A UT student was reported to be staggering down a flight of stairs. The subject was unable to navigate the stairs and was sitting down. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on her breath. The officer allowed the subject the opportunity to contact a sober friend. The subject was unable to locate a sober or responsible friend. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-23-10, at 2:46 AM. 2000 BLOCK GUADALUPE Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a UT student run into the street which caused several vehicles to break hard in order to avoid hitting her. The subject continued running across the street. The student was stopped and the officer learned she had been to several local downtown establishments where she had consumed several adult beverages. The officer noted the student was displaying several clues of intoxication. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-23-10, at 3:01 AM. 2300 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was observed operating a bicycle without front illumination. During the traffic investigation, the officer soon learned the subject had several outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants. If you are guessing traffic warrants, you are correct. The subject was taken into custody for the outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-22-10, at 3:20 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 52 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Malfunctioning Light, 1 EMS call, 2 Public Assist requests, and 18 Unsecured Door Reports between 05/21/10 and 05/24/10.
