Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Wednesday, 05/26/10 and Thursday, 05/27/10. *****ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ****** Are you a Fan of the University of Texas Police Department? Come join us on Face Book at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/utaustinpolice AT&T CONFERENCE CENTER, 1900 University Ave Fraud / Theft of Service: Two non-UT subjects entered into the AT&T Conference Center and asked to have their reservations upgraded to the Presidential Suite and presented the clerk with a check already made out to the hotel. The following day, staff determined the check was fraudulent. Both subjects had left the area prior to the discovery of theft. Occurred on 5-24-10, at 12:44 AM. Loss value: $1,398.00. TAYLOR HALL, #8 East Mall Graffiti: Several words and drawings were discovered written on several pillars next to a stairwell. Loss Damage: $150.00. Discovered on: 5-27-10, at 12:01 AM. WELCH HALL, 105 East 24th Street Theft: A bright yellow K2 mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a loop cable and a keyed Master pad lock. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 5-26-10 between 1:00 PM and 4:15 PM. 100 BLOCK EAST 24th STREET Driving While Intoxicated: A brown Chevy Blazer was observed travelling north in the 2200 Block San Jacinto at a high rate of speed. The vehicle's driver failed to stop at two traffic controlled intersections before turning onto 24th Street. During the traffic investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath. The non-UT driver informed the officers, he had consumed only 4 drinks the entire night since he was the “DD” or Designated Driver. The officer asked the non-UT driver if he was on any medication. The driver informed the officer that is passenger was on medication and currently under a physician's care. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests to the driver. The subject displayed several clues that indicated he was intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-27-10, at 2:25 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Theft: A non-UT subject discovered an unknown subject had removed his license plate from his moped that was parked near the Littlefield Fountain. Loss value: $5.00. Occurred on: 5-26-10 between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM. 2400 BLOCK TRINITY Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer observed a vehicle travelling the wrong way on a posted one-way street. During the traffic investigation, the officer learned the UT staff member had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant. The subject was taken into custody for the Outside Agency arrest warrant and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-27-10, at 12:24 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 Alarm Calls, 1 Fire Alarm, 2 Public Assistance requests, and 5 Unsecured Door Reports between 05/26/10 and 05/27/10.
