Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department patrol officers between Friday, 06/04/10 and Monday, 06/07/10. *****ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ****** Are you a Fan of the University of Texas Police Department? Come join us on Face Book at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/utaustinpolice FRANK ERWIN CENTER, 1701 Red River Assault by Contact: A non-UT subject was reported attempting to take another non-UT subject from his mother. During the investigation, the officers learned a non-custodial parent had attempted to talk to his son after graduation. During the encounter, the non-UT subject had grabbed his ex-wife during the confrontation. The subject was issued a field release citation for Assault by Contact and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-05-10, at 9:00 PM. FRANK ERWIN CENTER, 1701 Red River Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject reported a suspect in an assault case was inside the building waiting to graduate. Officers confirmed the suspect had an active warrant and was in-fact inside the building. The subject was located and taken into custody for the outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant. The subject was transported to Central Booking where he took a walk... just not the one he had planned on taking that night. Occurred on: 6-05-10, at 6:20 PM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A teal green leather wallet containing several credit cards, personal identification, and $3.00 in cash was reported stolen. Prior to the investigation, the wallet had been located inside one of the restrooms covered in wet paper towels. The victim stated only the contents of the wallet were missing. Loss value: $9.00. Occurred on: 6-04-10, between 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM. TRINITY PARKING GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Ave. Forgery: A UT staff member discovered a UT staff member had accepted a counterfeit twenty dollar bill during an event. Loss value: $20.00. Occurred on: 6-04-10, at 12:44 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Forgery: A UT staff member discovered a UT staff member had accepted a counterfeit twenty dollar bill during an event. Loss value: $20.00. Occurred on: 1:20 PM. 1800 BLOCK TRINITY Possession of Marijuana / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Driving While License Invalid: A white Buick was stopped for travelling at a high rate of speed. During the traffic investigation, the officer soon learned the non-UT driver was operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended and invalid. The subject was taken into custody for DWLS. As the investigation continued, the officers detected a very strong pungent odor of unburned marijuana inside the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and discovered 2 one-gallon plastic baggies containing marijuana. As the search continued, 7 smaller plastic baggies containing marijuana, a digital scale, a pill bottle containing a controlled substance, and several glass pipes and a marijuana bong were found inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Officers took the passenger into custody as well. Both subjects were transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-06-10, at 11:57 AM. 1900 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Criminal Trespass Warnings / Assist Outside Agency: Two non-UT subjects were reported to be skateboarding and doing tricks off of the bench seats and steps leading to MLK. During the investigation, both subjects were issued written Criminal Trespass Warnings. As the investigation was continuing, the officers learned one subject had several outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants. That subject was taken into custody and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-04-10, at 11:15 PM. 2000 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Assist Outside Agency / Non-Motorized Vehicle on a Sidewalk: A non-UT subject was seen riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. During the traffic investigation, the officer learned the subject had two outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants for Theft and another Traffic violation. The subject was taken into custody for the outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-06-10, at 3:26 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 45 Alarm Calls, 11 Call Box Notifications, 2 Welfare Calls, 1 Chemical Spill, 3 Suspicious Activity Reports, 11 Malfunctioning Light Reports, and 5 Public Assist Reports between 06/04/10 an06/07/10.
