Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 06/11/10 and Monday, 06/14/10. *****ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ****** Are you a Fan of the University of Texas Police Department? Come join us on Face Book at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/utaustinpolice COMPUTATION CENTER, #1 East Mall Theft: A grey Specialized mountain bicycle was stolen after being secured to a handrail. Loss value: $350.00. Occurred on: 6-11-10, between 10:00 AM and 12:45 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: An unidentified UT student entered into GRE and reported an unidentified subject appeared to be stealing a bicycle. Ten minutes later a purple and silver colored Trek mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. During the investigation, the officer learned the unknown subject was seen riding away from the building on a bicycle. The unknown subject was described as: White male, wearing a green sleeveless Army vest and shorts. Subject was carrying a black backpack. Loss value: $900.00. Occurred on: 6-12-10, at 5:20 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft / Credit Card Abuse: A UT student reported leaving his property unattended inside Jester City Limits and returning to claim his property 3 hours later. Upon his return the victim discovered his wallet, personal identification, several credit cards, $20.00. in cash and a Pantech cellular telephone had been removed from his backpack prior to the backpack being turned into Lost and Found. During the investigation, the subject contacted his bank and discovered several unauthorized charges had been made using his credit cards. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Occurred on: 6-10-10, between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Suspicious Activity: Several UT staff members reported a non-UT subject was climbing on top of a construction wall. During the investigation, the officers located a subject on top a temporary roof. The subject explained he was practicing “parkour” since he was trying out for Austin's City Marshall service. The subject was issued a verbal Criminal Trespass warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-13-10, at 6:50 AM. PARKING LOT 80, 1900 Red River Graffiti: Letters written in blue ink were discovered on three sides of an Emergency Call box located on the south side of the Texas Swim Center. Loss value: $50.00. Discovered on: 6-13-10, at 7:25 AM. RED & CHARLINE MCCOMBS FIELD, 2001 Comal Terroristic Threat: A non-UT subject was reported to have been making threats to another non-UT subject over a parking issue. The victim stated the suspect had threatened to pound his head into the concrete. The victim refused to file charges. Occurred on: 6-13-10, at 12:31 PM. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was seen sleeping inside the garage. During the investigation, the officers learned the subject had received 4 prior written Criminal Trespass Warnings for several areas on campus. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued his 5th Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 6-13-10, at 5:15 PM. 2600 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a non-UT subject run through a stop sign while wobbling back and forth on his bicycle in a zig zag pattern. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject's breath. The subject claimed to have only consumed one beer even though he was still holding onto an empty cardboard 12 pack. As the investigation continued, the subject stated he might have had two beers at a friend's house. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-12-10, at 11:30 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 33 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Welfare Concern, 7 Malfunctioning lights, 2 Call Box alarms, 2 fire alarms and 10 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/11/10 an06/14/10.
