During the investigation, the officers investigated to determine if the driver was intoxicated. While conducting the Field Sobriety tests, one of the passengers claimed she had been at a night club and while there she had been the victim of various crimes. The subject refused medical treatment and refused to make an official report to the Austin Police Department. Once it was determined the driver was not intoxicated, the subjects were released. Occurred on: 6-19-10, at 1:50 AM. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was found hanging out on the 6th level of the parking garage. The subject quickly dropped a golf club and attempted to hide it beside the elevator. During the investigation, the officers learned the subject had been hitting golf balls from the top level into the neighborhood. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-19-10, at 11:36 PM. 1800 BLOCK RED RIVER Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was seen standing next to a retaining wall with her pants down around her ankles and was watering the plants. During the investigation, the officers learned the subject had two Outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants. The subject was taken into custody for the Outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-20-10, at 12:16 AM. 2000 BLOCK SPEEWAY Suspicious Activity / Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT Police Officer discovered a non-UT subject in the bike racks located on the north side of PCL. The subject was straddling a bicycle. The officer discovered cut self-locking cable lock on the rack next to the subject. When the ownership of the bicycle could not be established, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was allowed to leave the area. Occurred on: 6-19-10, at 3:04 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: There is a real good chance this subject was in possession of a stolen bicycle, given some of the facts in this case. There are two problems that occurred. First is the property was not registered with Parking and Transportation. Registered property makes ownership easy to prove. Take a few minutes and go to the Parking and Transportation website and register your bicycle. The second problem is the types of locks used to secure your bike. Cable locks provide very little protection and are very easy to defeat. We stand-by our recommendation of using a two-lock locking system. A good U-shaped lock should be your primary lock, then use a cable lock to lock the rear tire to the bike frame. You are now forcing a thief to use two separate tools to steal your property. 2100 BLOCK NUECES Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT Police Officer stopped a silver Toyota for travelling on the roadway without its headlamps illuminating the street. During the traffic investigation, the officers saw a silver tin with a green leafy substance they recognized as marijuana. Next to the silver tin was a glass pipe that contained burned marijuana residue. The subject was issued a field release citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was released at the scene. Occurred on: 6-20-10, at 9:31 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 32 alarm calls, 4 public assist requests, 3 EMS calls, 2 Suspicious Activity reports, 1 Collision Report, 3 Malfunctioning Light reports, and 16 unsecured door reports between 06/18/10 and 06/21/10.
