Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Wednesday, 06/30/10 and Thursday, 07/01/10. ****New Service Brought to You by UTPD**** UTPD is happy to announce online property registration. Items with a serial number such as laptops, MP3 players, cell phones, electronics, and bikes are eligible. Registering your property is very helpful in theft investigations and in returning lost property to its rightful owner. Without identifying information, recovering stolen property is virtually impossible. Come join us on Face Book at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/utaustinpolice JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft / Credit Card Abuse: A black leather wallet containing personal identification, a credit card and a Social Security card was stolen after being placed inside a closed backpack. During the investigation, the officer learned the victim had been notified by his bank, the next day, of several unusual charges made on his credit card. It was at this time the victim realized his property had been stolen. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Occurred on 6-29-10. NORMAN HACKERMAN BUILDING, 100 East 24th Street Theft: A orange and white gas operated Stihl Quick Saw was stolen after being left unattend on the ground floor, south side of the building. During the investigation, the officer learned the victim had gone up to the 7th level and returned 15 minutes later to discovered his property had found a new owner. Loss value: $1,200.00 Occurred on: 6-29-10 between 4:30 PM and 4:45 PM. SANCHEZ BUILDING, 1912 Speedway Burglary: A UT staff member discovered approximately 100 pre-paid parking passes had been stolen from inside a secured 4th floor office. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred between: 6-20-10 and 6-29-10. 2000 BLOCK ROBERT DEDMAN Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject approached a UT staff member and began asking him for money. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer that she had not been asking anyone for money and was simply lost. The subject bagan to berate the officer and insisited that she wanted to leave. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-30-10, at 6:42 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 23 Alarm Calls, 1 Public Assist Requests and 2 Malfunctioning Light Reports between 06/30/10 and 07/0110.
