Loss value: $170.00. Occurred on 07/15/10 between 6:45 pm and 8:40 pm. Crime Prevention Tip: Combination pad locks are not typically considered high security locks as they can be defeated rather easily by a thief who has the knowledge to do so. The UT Police Department recommends the use of a keyed pad lock to secure lockers. Before using any pad lock, examine the lock for numbers printed on the lock or stickers on the lock. If a lock has a number printed in ink on the lock, use rubbing alcohol to remove the number before you use the lock. If there are any stickers on the lock; remove the stickers before you use the lock. This is important as printed numbers on a lock are often the key code to the lock or the combination to the lock. Stickers on locks often contain key codes or combinations to the lock as well. JESSE H. JONES COMMUNICATION CENTER BUILDING A, 2504 Whitis Theft: A silver colored Mac Book Pro was stolen from an unsecured 5th floor office while the owner was in a meeting in another part of the building. JESTER CENTER ACADEMIC, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A blue Pantech cellular telephone was stolen after it was left on a toilet paper dispenser that was located in a 1st floor women's restroom. The owner placed the phone on the toilet paper dispenser for fear that it would fall out of her pocket and into the porcelain bowl. Loss value: 100.00. Occurred on 07/14/10 between 1:30 pm and 2:15 pm. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning (2 counts): Two non-UT subjects were reported as interrupting an organized play by making loud comments about the play. The two thespian critics were asked by the organizers of the play to leave but they failed to do so. The responding officers met the subjects and issued them both written criminal trespass warnings. Occurred on 07/14/10 at 11:07 PM. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 san Antonio Public Intoxication / Possession of More Than 1 Driver's License: A non-UT subject, who was under the age of 21, used one of the parking garage's many panic alarm buttons to summon the police to report the parking payment machine had “eaten” his credit card. When the subject retrieved his identification for the responding police officers, it was discovered the subject was in possession of a valid driver's license that belonged to a subject who was over the age of 21. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was deemed to be a danger to himself as he did not know where he was, where he was going but did plan to drive there once he left the garage. Occurred on 07/15/10 at 2:41 am. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 Alarm Calls, 1 Fire Alarm Report, 1 Welfare Concern Report, 1 Light Malfunction Report, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 07/14/10 and 07/15/10.
