Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 07/16/10 and Monday, 07/19/10. ****New Service Brought to You by UTPD**** UTPD is happy to announce online property registration. Registering your property is very helpful in theft investigations and in returning lost property to its rightful owner. Come join us on Face Book at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/utaustinpolice ANIMAL RESOURCE CENTER, 2701 Speedway Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer discovered an unsecured bicycle leaning up next to a tree. The officer searched the area and discovered the owner of the bicycle passed out on the north side of the building. The non-UT subject had a very strong odor of alcohol on his person and did not know where he was even through he insisted he was on Lamar. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-19-10 at 2:43 AM. ENGINEERING SCIENCE BUILDING, 2501 Speedway Theft: A light blue colored mountain biclycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the southwest side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred between: 7-09-10 and 7-16-10. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member reported finding a glass pipe with burned marijuana residue inside the glass bowl in a public area. During the investigation, the glass pipe was confiscated. Occurred on: 7-18-10, at 11:01 AM. SUTTON HALL, 210 West 21st Street Graffiti: Words, letters and numbers written in black ink were discovered inside a second floor men's restroom stall. Loss value: $50.00. Discovered on: 7-18-10, at 10:15 AM. WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Gudalupe Graffiti: Words written in blue spray paint were discovered on the east exterior wall of the building. Loss value: $100.00. Dsicovered on: 7-18-10, at 3:30 AM. 2400 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Reckless Driving: A silver colored truck was observed travelling behind another vehicle. As both vehicles approached an intersection, the truck moved into the opposit lane of traffic and forced a bicyclist to react to avoid a collision. The driver of the truck then disregarded a solid red light. During the traffic investigation, the non-UT driver informed the officers he had been “messing around” with his friends that were in the other vehicle. The subject was taken into custody for Reckless Driving and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-19-10, at 2:48 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 36 Alarm Calls, 3 Call Box alarms, 1 Fire Alarm Report, 1 Welfare Concern Report, 2 Suspicious Activity reports, 4 Light Malfunction Report, and 15 Unsecured Door Reports between 07/16/10 and 07/19/10.
