Come join us on Face Book at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/utaustinpolice GUADALUPE PARKING GARAGE, 1616 Guadalupe Burglary: A UT staff member reported a blue Diamondback mountain bicycle had been stolen from inside a secured enclosure. During the investigation, the officer learned an unknown subject had cut into the enclosure and pulled the property through the opening. Prior to receiving this report, a UT Police Officer had discovered an unoccupied campsite on the west side of the Littlefield home, the officer observed a blue Diamondback mountain bike leaning on the west wall. The bicycle was registered with Parking and Transportation, but had not been reported stolen. The bicycle was impounded prior to the reported Burglary at GUG. Recovered Loss value: $50.00. Occurred between: 7-22-10 and 7-24-10. Bicycle impounded on 7-24-10. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping across three chairs. The subject informed the officers that he was there studying for class. The officers learned the subject was not afflicated with the University of Texas. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 7-25-10, at 4:17 AM. PARLIN HALL, #2 South Mall Theft: A grey Dell laptop computer, mouse pad and power cord were stolen from an unsecured 1st floor classroom after the property was left unattended and unsecured. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on: 7-24-10, between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. PRATHER HALL DORMITORY, 305 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported the theft of his black Trek mountain bicycle that had been secured to the bike racks located on the south side of the building with a self-locking cable lock. Prior to making the reported theft. The victim stated his bicycle makes a distinct sound, and heard his bicycle being ridden then observed an unknown subject riding it. The victim stopped the subject and inquired about the bike. When informed that the bicycle was his, the unknown subject gladly turned it over to the victim and walked away. The unknown subject was described as: White male, 19-20 years of age, 5’-09”, and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black gym shorts and white tennis shoes. Recovered Loss value: $50.00. Occurred between: 7-23-10 and 7-24-10. Crime Prevention Tip: Most thieves prefer you to use a self-locking cable lock. Simple reason, it is easy to steal your property. UTPD recommends a two locking system to protect your property. A U-shaped lock that uses a flat key and a thick self-locking cable lock. Two separate locks that requires the thief to have two separate tools to steal your property. 200 BLOCK WEST 7th STREET Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was seen arguing with two UT staff members and was demanding to see their “green card”. The subject then demanded to see the officer’s green card as the officer began his investigation. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted the subject’s lack of balance as he attempted to stand. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-24-10, at 9:16 PM. 400 BLOCK MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed staggering between his navigational beacons, while utilizing well placed trees, poles and the occational wall to maintain his up-right posture. The subject informed the officers that he was lost and unsure how to get home. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-25-10, at 2:23 AM. 900 BLOCK WEST DEAN KEETON Assist Outside Agency / Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a vehicle operating without its headlamps turned on as-well-as a defective taillight. During the traffic investigation, the officer learned the non-UT driver had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant. The subject was taken into custody for the warrant. During the investigation, the officers determined the passenger had been consuming alcoholic beverages to a point he was a danger to himself. The non-UT passenger was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-25-10, at 12:32 AM. 1500 BLOCK RED RIVER Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out underneath a tree next to a busy roadway. During the investigation, the officers detected a faint odor of alcohol on the subject’s person prior to wakening him up. The officers asked the subject several questions, like what is your address, where are you, and where were you earlier this night. The subject responded, “ What you do mean?” to each question posed to him. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 7-24-10, at 2:10 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 40 Alarm Calls,2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Welfare Call, 2 Lighting problem reports, 1 Call Box alarmand 9 Unsecured Door Reports between 07/23/10 and 07/26/10.
