Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 08/26/10 and Friday, 08-27-10. ****New Service Brought to You by UTPD**** UTPD is happy to announce online property registration. Items with a serial number such as laptops, MP3 players, cell phones, electronics, and bikes are eligible. Registering your property is very helpful in theft investigations and in returning lost property to its rightful owner. Without identifying information, recovering stolen property is virtually impossible. Logon to https://www.utexas.edu/police/property/ to register your property today. Currently 1,543 items have been registered. LITTLEFIELD DORMITORY, 201 West Dean Keeton Indecent Exposure: A UT staff member observed a non-UT subject “looking like a fool with his pants on the ground” exposing himself to several individuals waiting at the bus stop. During the investigation, the subject was located and was taken into custody for Indecent Exposure and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 8-26-10, at 8:07 AM. PARKING LOT 103, 2100 Comal Street Suspicious Activity: A UT Police Officer discovered two UT students laying on the backseat of a vehicle in various stages of undress. Both subjects stated they had been helping helping each other move into their respective dorms when both were hit with Cupid’s arrow. Occurred on: 8-26-10, at 10:13 PM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A green Schwinn mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the north side of the building after being secured with an unknown type of lock. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between 8-23-10 and 8-26-10. 200 BLOCK EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a UT student that was exhibiting great difficulty in maintaining his balance while having greater difficulty walking. The subject walked head first into a non-offending tree, then needed the support of a well positioned pole to keep from falling. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. The student informed the officer that he had consumed eight beers, but could not remember where on 6th Street he had been. The student was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 8-27-10, at 2:35 AM. 200 BLOCK GUADALUPE Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Failure to Identify: A UT Police Officer observed two subjects swaying back and forth. Several times one or two of the subjects would lose their balance and almost fall into an on-coming lane of traffic. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on their breaths. One student presented a Texas Driver’s License that showed she was over the age of 21, however the picture on the DL did not match her appearance. The officers soon learned the subject’s true identity and both students were found to be under the legal age of 21. Both students were issued Court Appearance citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and were released at the scene. Occurred on: 8-27-10, at 2:13 AM. 2100 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer observed a non-UT disregard a stop sign while riding a bicycle. During the traffic investigation, the officer learned the subject had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant. The subject was taken into custody and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 8-27-10, at 12:42 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 Alarm Calls, 2 Call Box Alarms, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Public Assist requests, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 08/26/10 and 08/27/10.
