Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Wednesday, 10-06-10 and Thursday, 10-07-10. The UT Student Government and The UT Police Department is pleased to announce the beginning of UT’s Safety Week and National Night Out activities have started. See the list of activities and locations then come out and join us for a full week of fun and informative activities regarding safety, security, health and wellness. Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 11 am to 2 pm West Mall Health and Wellness Fair Come out for a day of Health and Wellness at an informational fair where you can receive a variety of information designed to help you maintain a healthy life. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Criminal Mischief: A UT Police Officer discovered the exit arm, located on the lower level of the garage, had been forced up. During the investigation, the officer discovered that when the control arm was forced up, the force used made the arm inoperable. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Discovered on: 10-07-10, at 4:10 AM. MAIN BUILDING, #1 South Mall Theft: A black and white K2 mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a U-shaped lock and chain. Loss value: $70.00. Occurred on: 10-06-10, between 3:15 PM and 4:45 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Suspicious Activity: A UT student reported being approached by a non-UT subject who was wanting to sell her several magazine subscriptions. As part of his sales pitch, he asked her to bend at the waist and touch her toes. The subject informed the student that if she could touch her toes, then she could fit in a suitcase and travel around the country with him. During the investigation, the officer located the subject and gave him a verbal Criminal Trespass Warning and informed him he could not sell magazines on campus. Occurred on: 10-06-10, at 7:00 PM. 2400 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. More than One Valid Driver’s License in Possessession: A UT Police Officer observed a vehicle impeding traffic by blocking a lane a traffic. During the traffic investigation, the officer observed the UT student driver was in possession of a second valid Texas Driver’s License. The second license was confiscated. No charges were filed. Occurred on: 10-07-10, at 1:51 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 20 Alarm Calls, 2 Medical Emergency Assists, 2 Welfare Concern Reports, 1 Fire Alarm Call, 1 Suspicious Activity Call, 1 Public Assist Request and 6 Unsecured Door Reports between 10/06/10 and 10/07/10.
