Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Monday, 10/25/10 and Tuesday, 10/26/10. Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) The Behavior Concerns Advice Line (BCAL) is a partnership among the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD). BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Obstructing Roadway / Criminal Trespass Warning (3 Counts): A UT Police Officer and a Travis County Deputy observed a red Nissan sit through an entire cycle of light changes without moving. As the officers approached the vehicle, they detected a very strong odor of burning marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. During the investigation, the officers observed one of the subjects attempting to cover a clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance with his foot. The officer soon discovered a pack of Zig-Zag rolling papers on the same subject. The subject was issued a court appearance citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The non-UT driver of the vehicle was issued a court appearance citation for Obstructing the Roadway. All of the non-UT subjects were issued written Criminal Trespass Warnings and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 10-23-10 at 4:48 AM. TRINITY PARKING GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT staff member discovered the driver’s side window of a Chevy truck broken out. During the investigation, the officer learned a Cobra radar detector and a Garmin GPS had been stolen from the center console. Loss value: $315.00. Repair Damage: $150.00. Discovered on: 10-25-10, at 8:00 PM. 2400 BLOCK NUECES STREET Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was reported to be attempting to ride a bicycle while intoxicated. The officers located the subject staggering and stumbling in the middle of the street. During the investigation, the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted his eyes were blood shot and watery. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-25-10, at 8:58 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 19 Alarm Calls, 2 Fire Alarm calls, 2 Suspicious Activity Calls, 2 Public Assists, and 3 Unsecured Door Reports between 10/25/10 and 10/26/10.
