Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Monday, 11/08/10 and Tuesday, 11/09/10. BRACKENRIDGE DORMITORY, 207 East 21st Street Found Property: A UT staff member found a clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance inside a stairwell. The staff member quickly notified the UT Police Department The officer took care, custody and control of the baggie and secured it for safe keeping. Occurred on: 11-09-10, at 2:17 AM. Commentary: If you or someone you know is missing a clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance please stop by the UT Police Department to claim it. After a brief chemical analysis the police will determine if you are allowed to possess this substance, we look forward to seeing you. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A grey Nike wallet with a safari print containing $400.00 in cash, several credit cards and personal identification was stolen after being left unattended and unsecured on the bleachers during a handball tournament. Loss value: $420.00. Occurred on: 11-06-10, between 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: Thieves, like a fisherman loves to return time after time to their “honey hole.” A fisherman knows there will always be fish in his favorite fishing hole. Many of the thieves know that in certain areas around campus the students will leave their personal property unattended and unsecured. Something as simple as a locked locker will prevent this thief from being a successful thief. JACKSON SCHOOL OF GEOLOGY, #10 East Mall Theft: A UT staff member discovered a Motion Computing PC Tablet memory card and hard drive were missing from a computer that was stored in a storage area located on the 6th floor. Loss value: $100.00. Discovered on: 11-08-10, at 9:00 AM. MARTIN LUTHER KING STATUE, 2300 Block Speedway Criminal Trespass Warning (2 Counts): Two non-UT subjects were observed “grinding” their skateboards along the base of a statue. During the investigation, the officers issued both subjects a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted them from campus. Occurred on: 11-08-10, at 7:08 PM. SANCHEZ BUILDING, 1912 Speedway Graffiti: Words written in black and silver spray paint were discovered on the north exterior wall. Estimated repair value: $100.00. Discovered on: 11-08-10, at 9:51 AM. SANCHEZ BUILDING, 1912 Speedway Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member discovered a table, located on the 2nd floor, had been broken. During the investigation, the officer discovered the right table leg had been broken off from the table top. Loss value: $100.00. Discovered on: 11-08-10, at 7:30 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 12 Alarm Calls, 1 “Police help” Call Box Activation, 2 Fire Alarm Activations, 2 Medical Emergency Assist, 5 Suspicious Activity Report and 2 Unsecured Door Report between 11/08/10 and 11/09/10.
