Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Wednesday, 11/17/10 and Thursday, 11/18/10. ***** Administrative Message ***** The Austin Police Department released the following information to the University of Texas Police Department. Two robberies occurred in West Campus over the weekend (11-14-10) with the same MO and suspect description. In both cases, the victim was walking down the street when a white or crème colored sedan pulled up alongside of them. The suspects, described as three Black males, exited the vehicle and robbed the victims at gunpoint. You can now follow us on Twitter @UTAustinPolice ALMETRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Ave Suspicious Persons: A UT staff member notified the UT Police Department that two unknown subjects had aggressively attempted to gain entry into the dormitory. When the staff member attempted to assist them, they turned and left the area. The unknown subjects were described as: White males approx. 20-24 years of age. Occurred on: 11-17-10, at 12:52 AM. COMMUNICATIONS BUILDING B, 2504-B Whitis Ave Theft: A black canvas tote bag containing a wallet, Apple iPhone, and several credit cards were reported stolen after being left unsecured inside a 6th floor women’s restroom. Loss value: $1,044. Occurred on: 11-18-10, between 12:01 AM and 12:24 AM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Graffiti: Words and drawings, written in black indelible marker, were discovered inside a bathroom stall located on the first floor. Estimated Damage: $50.00. Discovered on: 11-18-10, at 2:47 AM. LITTLEFIELD HOUSE, 302 West 24th Street Criminal Trespass Warning / Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer discovered two non-UT subjects sleeping on the west side of the building. During the investigation, the officers issued both subjects written Criminal Trespass Warnings. As the investigation was concluding, the officers discovered one subject had several outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants. The subject was taken into custody and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 11-18-10, at 12:24 AM. MONCRIEF-NEUHAUS ATHLETIC CENTER, 2015 San Jacinto Theft: A Compex Sport Muscle STI 6900S electronic muscle stimulation machine was stolen from an unsecured 2nd floor room during a soccer game. Loss value: $450.00. Occurred on: 10/29/10. Reported on: 11/18/10. MOORE-HILL DORMITORY, 214 East 21st Street Graffiti: A UT staff member discovered a word written in black ink inside a family style bathroom. Estimated Damage: $5.00. Discovered on: 11-18-10, at 7:30 AM. PERRY CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A book of blank checks and a Sony cell phone were stolen from a 5th floor table while the owner went to use the restroom. The owner’s backpack was also left on the table. There were indications the thief had rummaged through at least one pocket on the backpack, but no other items were stolen. Before the blank checks could be cancelled, a check was issued and forged to make a purchase. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on 11/14/10 between 7:00 pm and 7:05 pm. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Credit Card Abuse: A debit card was stolen from a purse that was left in an unlocked café cabinet. Prior to the deactivation of the card, $500 had been removed from the account. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on 11/15/10 between 10:00 am and 5:30 pm. 400 BLOCK EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed a white Toyota travelling west along MLK without it headlamps turned on. During the traffic investigation, the officers detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The officer determined the UT student driver was under the legal age of 21 and had been consuming adult beverages. The officer issued the student a field release citation for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor and impounded his vehicle. Occurred on: 11-18-10, at 3:19 AM. 2300 BLOCK ROBERT DEDMAN Assist Outside Agency / Speeding: A UT Police Officer observed a green Dodge truck exceeding the posted speed limit. During the traffic investigation, the officer learned the vehicle’s license plate had been reported stolen. The driver, a UT student, was removed from the vehicle. During the investigation, the officers confirmed one license plate had been stolen, but the owner of the vehicle had not removed the remaining old plate once his new plates had been re-issued to him. The student was issued a field release citation for Speeding. Occurred on: 11-17-10, at 10:11 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 19 Alarm Calls, 1 Medical Emergency Assist, 4 Suspicious Activity Reports, 11 Malfunctioning Light Reports, 2 Public Assist Requests and 6 Unsecured Door Reports between 11/17/10 and 11/18/10.
