Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: Thanksgiving Weekend, for most of us it is a weekend of football, football, and Black Friday shopping sales. For law enforcement, Thanksgiving Weekend marks the beginning of the Holiday Theft Season. The University of Texas Police Department would like to remind you that the thieves are not taking a break; they are watching for their opportunity to make you their next victim. This Friday plan on not leaving holiday packages visible inside your vehicle. Lock them inside the trunk, or take them home. Pickpockets will be out in the malls. Ladies keep your purse closed and close to your body. Gentleman, your wallet is also a target, place a rubber band around your wallet, the friction will make it very hard for a thief to pick your pocket.
