Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 12/10/10 and Monday, 12/13/10. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** It is that time of the year that most reader look forward to. We are beginning to put together the top 10 entries for the Best Of for 2010. Please submit your favorite Campus Watch entry(s) by December 21st. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** Due to the upcoming Holiday Break, the University of Texas Police Department would like to remind all Alarm Administrators to update their alarm information by December 20, 2010. Thank you for your assistance. KINSOLVING DORMITORY, 2605 Whitis Ave Forgery: A UT staff member discovered a counterfeit $5.00 bill inside her cash drawer. During the investigation, the counterfeit money was seized as evidence. Occurred on: 12-11-10, at 3:00 PM. KINSOLVING DORMITORY, 2605 Whitis Ave Suspicious Person: A UT student reported an unknown subject had approached their group and had tried to start an argument after the subject over heard the group of students laughing. The subject left the area prior to the officers arriving. The unknown subject was described as: White male, 20-24 years of age, 5’-6” with blonde hair. Subject was last seen wearing silver colored “Grandpa” glasses. Reported on: 12-11-10, at 9:35 AM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Graffiti: A UT staff member discovered words written in black indelible marker on the stone work inside a 2nd floor men’s restroom. Estimated Damage: $300.00. Discovered on: 12-134-10, at 12:30 AM. WELCH HALL, 105 East 24th Street Theft: A silver colored Apple Mac Pro laptop computer was reported stolen from an unsecured third floor office. Loss value: $1,100.00. Occurred on: 12-10-11. 300 EAST 21st STREET Driving While Driving: A UT Police Officer observed the driver of a silver Jeep expand the roadway to include the sidewalk. After driving a short distance along the sidewalk, the UT student driver ran through an intersection that was controlled by a Stop Sign, crossed a double yellow line and committed other traffic violations. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the UT student driver’s breath and noted his eyes were bloodshot and watery. The student informed the officer he had only consumed one beer, then changed his story to add four additional drinks. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety test and noted several clues that indicated the driver was intoxicated. The student was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 12-12-10, at 4:35 AM. 1900 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Driving While Intoxicated: A UT Police Officer observed a black Mazda travelling at a high rate of speed through campus. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The officer noted the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and droopy. The non-UT driver informed the officer that he had consumed only two beers and was heading over to a friend’s house. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety test and noted multiple clues that indicated the driver was intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 12-11-10, at 2:12 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 54 Alarm Calls, 2 Fire Alarm Calls, 3 Call Box Alarms, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Light Malfunction, and 7 Unsecured Doors reports between 12/10/10 and 12/13/10.
