Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Tuesday, 12/14/10 and Wednesday, 12/15/10. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** It is that time of the year that most reader look forward to. We are beginning to put together the top 10 entries for the “Best Of” for 2010. Please submit your favorite Campus Watch entry(s) by December 21st. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** Due to the upcoming Holiday Break, the University of Texas Police Department would like to remind all Alarm Administrators to update their alarm information by December 20, 2010. Thank you for your assistance. BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING BUILDING, 107 West Dean Keeton Theft: A red Schwinn mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the north side of the building with a self locking cable lock. Loss value: $210.00. Occurred on: 12-14-10, between 9:00 AM and 6:20 PM. CLAUDIA T. JOHNSON HALL, 210 West 6th Street Criminal Trespass Warning (2 Counts): A UT staff member discovered two non-UT subjects sleeping on the north side of the building inside an established campsite. During the investigation, the officer issued both subjects a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted them from the area. Occurred on: 12-14-10, at 11:51 PM. ENGINEERING TEACHING CENTER, 204 East Dean Keeton Theft: A grey Bianchi road bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the south side of the building under the cross over bridge. During the investigation, the officer learned the bicycle had been secured to the bike racks with a U-shaped lock. Loss value: $859.00. Occurred between 12-13-10, at 12:00 PM and 12-14-10, at 2:00 AM. JACKSON SCHOOL OF GEOLOGY, #10 East Mall Criminal Trespass Warning (4 Counts) / Suspicious Activity: A UT Police Officer, waiting for the elevator, encountered four UT students removing several books, maps and a chair from the building. The students informed the officer there was a sign stating the materials were free, and since they were all art students, they had found some inspiration. The now inspired officer confiscated all of the materials. Since the building was officially closed, all four students were additionally inspired in the form of a verbal Criminal Trespass Warning and a referral to the Dean of Student’s office. Occurred on: 12-15-10, at 2:26 AM. SAN JACINTO PARKING GARAGE, 2401 San Jacinto Blvd. Forgery: A UT staff member notified the UT Police Department a UT student was attempting to pay a bill with a counterfeit $10.00 bill. During the investigation, the officers located the student and seized the counterfeit currency. The student was unsure where he had gotten the money. Occurred on: 12-14-10, at 11:10 AM. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Theft: A silver and black Northrock mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between: 12-09-10 and 12-14-10. 2300 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Public Intoxication: A UT Student was seen stumbling and swaying back and forth. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. The student informed the officer he had consumed 5 shots of vodka and 3 mixed drinks. The officer allowed the subject to locate a sober friend. Prior to being released to the sober friend, the officer issued the student a field release citation for Public Intoxication. Occurred on: 12-15-10, at 2:31 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 4 Light Malfunction, and 2 Unsecured Doors reports between 12/14/10 and 12/15/10.
