Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 12/17/10 and Monday, 12/20/10. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** It is that time of the year that most readers look forward to. We are beginning to put together the top 10 entries for the “Best Of” for 2010. Please submit your favorite Campus Watch entry(s) by December 21st. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** Due to the upcoming Holiday Break, the University of Texas Police Department would like to remind all Alarm Administrators to update their alarm information by December 20, 2010. Thank you for your assistance. BERNARD RAPOPORT BUILDING, #5 East Mall Criminal Mischief: A UT Police Officer discovered words and a drawing inside a first floor men’s restroom. Loss value: $50.00. Discovered on: 12-18-10, at 6:44 PM. ERNEST COCKRELL HALL, 301 East Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered walking through the building carrying a duffle bag. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers that he was going to use the microwave to make some coffee and read a book since the building was closed. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 12-18-10, at 9:36 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Criminal Trespass Warning (3 Counts): A UT staff member reported three non-UT subjects had gained entry into the building without purchasing a day pass. During the investigation all three subjects were located and issued written Criminal Trespass Warnings. Occurred on: 12-18-10, at 2:37 PM. PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, 510 East 23rd Street Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was seen hunched over attempting to walk from side to side in a straight line. The officer lost sight of the subject when he went behind a row of shrubs. The subject emerged and noticed the officer standing there. The subject took flight and ran from the area, again running from side to side. After a short jaunt on the officer’s part, the subject was stopped. The officer learned the subject was attempting to go home from a downtown establishment. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s person and noted other signs of intoxication. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 12-18-10, at 1:04 AM. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Criminal Mischief: A UT Police Officer discovered the blue light from an emergency call box had been broken off. Loss value: $50.00. Discovered on: 12-18-10, at 4:30 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Theft: A black Samsung cellular telephone reported stolen after the owner had left it unattended while he took a nap. Loss value: $75.00. Occurred on: 12-14-10, between 9:45 PM and 11:00 PM. 2400 BLOCK GUADALUPE Assist Outside Agency / Welfare Concern: A UT Police Officer discovered a non-UT subject leaning against a retaining wall, while sitting on the steps located on the north side of the Union Building. During the investigation, the officer learned the subject had several outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants. The officer quickly realized the subject needed medical assistance and notified Austin EMS. The subject was transported to a local area hospital. The warrants were not served at this time. Occurred on: 12-19-10, at 1:34 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 46 Alarm Calls, 1 Suspicious Activity Report, 3 Fire Alarms, 1 Call Box Activation, 6 Light Malfunction, and 12 Unsecured Door reports between 12/17/10 and 12/20/10.
