Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 01/07/11 and Monday, 01/10/11. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, 2110 Speedway Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported sleeping inside a restricted area located on the 2nd floor. During the investigation, the suspect informed the officer he had walked in, sat down, and dozed off. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 1-09-10, at 2:00 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Criminal Trespass Warning (3 Counts): A UT staff member observed two non-UT subjects entering into the building without paying for a guest pass. During the investigation, the officers located the subjects along with a UT student. The officers learned the student had instructed his friends to enter into the gym to avoid paying. All three subjects were given a verbal Criminal Trespass Warning and were escorted from the building. The student was given a referral to the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 1-07-11, at 5:37 PM. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Theft: A silver and grey Timberline mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the northeast side of the building after being secured with a self locking cable lock. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred between: 12-13-10 and 1-07-11. 700 BLOCK COLORADO Public Intoxication: A UT staff member observed a non-UT subject attempting to gain entry into the Colorado Building. During the investigation, the officers located the subject and detected a very strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The subject informed the officers he had consumed “too much alcohol”, but could not remember what he had been drinking. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 1-08-11, at 3:36 AM. Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: Many of us received the gifts at Christmas that we were hoping to get, new bicycle, new laptop computer, Apple IPod, Apple iPhone and many many other things. The thieves are waiting for your return so they can also get many of these same gifts you received. The start of the spring semester is only days away and you are already starting to pack up your belongings for your return to UT. Take a few minutes before you start packing to engrave your property with your State issued Driver’s License or ID number. This will help in identifying the correct owner if your property is stolen. After you have engraved your property, go to the following website and register your property at www.utexas.edu/police/property . CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 28 Alarm Calls, 1Call Box Alarm, 2 EMS Calls, 4 Public Assistance Requests, 12 Burned Out Lights, and 16 Unsecured Door report between 01/07/11 and 01/10/11.
