Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Wednesday, 01/12/11 and Thursday, 01/13/11. ASHBELL SMITH PARKING GARAGE, 201 West 7th Street Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT staff member observed two non-UT subjects entering the parking garage and notified the UT Police Department. Prior to the arrival of the police officers, the staff member discovered a vehicle had been entered and the contents of the glove box had been thrown onto the floorboard and passenger seat. During the investigation, the two suspicious males were discovered standing at a bus stop and were taken into custody. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Occurred on: 1-12-11, at 11:15 AM. BELMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Theft: A white EZGO golf cart was report stolen from the interior parking lot. Loss value: $2950.00. Occurred between: 11-29-10 and 11-30-10. MOORE-HILL DORMITORY, 214 East 21st Street Criminal Mischief: A UT student discovered an unknown subject had attempted to steal his bicycle. The student had taken the time to secure his property with the recommended two-lock locking system. The U-shaped lock was damaged, but his property was still secured to the bike rack. Loss value: $65.00. Occurred between: 12-15-10 and 1-12-10. 100 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer observed a non-UT subject bent over inside a bike rack located on the north side of PCL. During the investigation, the officer soon discovered the subject had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant for Theft. The subject was taken into custody and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 1-12-11, at 8:15 AM. 1900 BLOCK GUADALUPE Assist Outside Agency / Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT Police Officer observed a black Infinity travelling without its headlamps turned on. During the traffic investigation, the officer soon learned the non-UT driver had two outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants for other traffic violations. The driver was taken into custody. During a search, incidental to arrest, the officer located two glass pipes in the subject’s pants pocket. Each pipe had burned marijuana residue in the bowls. The driver informed the officer he could expect to find a baggie of marijuana inside his vehicle. The officer located the marijuana inside the Infinity. Charges for Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia were filed. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 1-13-11, at 3:10 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 11 Alarm Calls, 1 Suspicious Package, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, and 4 Unsecured Door reports between 01/12/11 and 01/13/11.
