Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 01/27/11 and Friday, 01/28/11. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A blue and yellow colored Denali bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between: 1-26-11 and 1-27-11. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A silver Giant mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the north side of the building after being secured with a U-shaped lock. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred between: 1-23-11 and 1-25-11. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Criminal Mischief: A UT Police Officer discovered the control arms for the east side entrance and exit had been broken off. Estimated loss: $300.00. Discovered on: 1-28-11, at 4:00 AM. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed stopping a group of female students and asking them for money. During the investigation, the subject denied he had been asking for money. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 1-28-11, at 1:55 AM. SERVICE BUILDING, 304 East 24th Street Graffiti: A UT staff member discovered a drawing and several words written in black magic marker inside a stairwell. During the investigation, the officer learned the staff member had seen an unknown subject enter the stairwell then leave a short time later. The unknown subject was described as: white male, 20 years old with long blonde hair. Subject was last seen wearing a dark colored ball cap that was turned backwards. Estimated loss: $100.00. Occurred on: 1-27-11 between 11:30 AM and 11:54 AM. 1900 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT staff member reported his Sandisk MP3 player and a black case had been removed from the center console of his vehicle. During the investigation, the officer learned the victim had left his vehicle unlocked. Loss value: $20.00. Occurred on: 1-27-11, between 5:30 AM and 5:00 PM. 2100 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Public Intoxication: A UT student was observed attempting to navigate through his navigational beacons, the sidewalk and curb. After missing his marks several times and ending up staggering in the street, the student was stopped. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath and noted other signs of intoxication. The student informed the officer he had lost is ID card and was attempting to find it, he then changed his story and said he lost his debit card. His story changed a third time when he told the officer he had lost his phone. The student was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 1-28-11, at 2:39 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 Alarm Calls, 2 Malfunctioning Lights, 2 welfare concerns, 1 EMS Call, 2 Smell of Smoke calls, and 3 Unsecured Door report between 01/27/11 and 01/28/11.
