Crime Prevention Tip: Craigslist: the con man’s best friend. There are numerous warnings posted all over the internet warning both buyers and sellers about the criminal activity that takes place on the Craigslist website. This student tried to take precautions, to avoid being ripped off. But a con artist’s best trick is to be one step ahead of you. There are a couple of things we would recommend, first engrave your driver’s license number on all of your property. This way you can prove ownership quickly. After engraving your property, register your property on the UTPD property website. This site allows you to record and retain important information, like the serial number. These two things made it hard for a thief to be successful, and makes it easier for the police to catch a thief.
