Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 02/03/11 and Friday, 02/04/11. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Public Intoxication: A UT staff member reported a UT student had staggered up to the garage office with what appeared to be a head injury. The officers learned the subject had been involved in a fight at a local downtown establishment. The officers notified Austin EMS to treat the subject at the scene for the head injury, but also discovered the subject was highly intoxicated. Austin EMS transported the subject to a local area hospital. Occurred on: 2-04-11, at 2:36 AM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A green Raleigh mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $100.00. Discovered on: 2-03-11, at 10:11 AM. MUSIC RECITAL HALL, 2405 Trinity Ave Theft: A black Mongoose mountain bicycle was discovered unsecured inside the bike racks located on the northeast side of ADH. The officer soon learned the bike had been stolen from the bike racks located on the south side of the MRH building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Recovered loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 2-03-11, at 9:00 AM. NURSING SCHOOL, 1710 Red River Theft: A UT staff member reported 8 to 10 containers of food from the Pink Avocado Catering company were reported stolen from a secured area. The containers contained Smoked Salmon Canapés, Risotto Cakes, Braised Beef Ribs, Southwest Corn Tartlet, Cheese Tray and for dessert, Lemon Trifle and Chocolate Brownie bites. This caper left very little evidence behind at the scene but did smell fishy to the officer, just food for thought. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between: 2-01-11 at 8:30 PM and 2-02-11 at 9:00 AM. SID RICHARDSON HALL, 2300 Block Red River Burglary of Coin-Operated Machine: A UT staff member discovered a coin-operated machine located inside a second floor women’s restroom had been forced open. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Discovered on: 2-03-11, at 10:19 PM. TURTLE POND, 300 Block West Inner Campus Dr. Theft: UT Police Officers responded to a report of Suspicious Activity around the Turtle Pond. Responding officers located a vehicle attempting to leave the area and discovered a UT Student had removed two turtles from the pond. During the investigation, the officer was informed the student was concerned with the welfare of the turtles and had planned on bring them back. The turtles were released back into the pond. No charges were filed, but the student received a referral to the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 2-04-11, at 12:58 AM. W. C. HOGG, #2 East Mall Theft: A black Redline BMX style bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the east side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $550.00. Occurred on: 2-03-11 between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. 100 BLOCK EAST INNER CAMPUS DRIVE Theft / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Staff member reported three UT students had stolen three Wet Floor signs from the SAC building and were currently using the signs to slide down the hill on Inner Campus Drive. During the investigation, the officers located the subjects and soon discovered one student had a moderate odor of alcohol on his breath. The officers learned the subject was under the legal age of 21. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. All three signs were confiscated and returned to the SAC building after the staff member declined to file charges for Theft. All three students received a referral to the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 2-04-11, at 2:33 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 11 Alarm Calls, 2 Fire Alarms, 2 Suspicious Activity reports, 2 welfare concerns, and 1 Unsecured Door report between 02/03/11 and 02/04/11.
