Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Monday, 02/07/11 and Tuesday, 02/08/11. CREEKSIDE RESIDENCE HALL, 2501 San Jacinto Blvd. Theft: A UT student discovered an unknown subject had removed his front tire from his bicycle. During the investigation, the officer learned the student had secured his property to the bike rack located on the west side of the building. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred on: 2-07-11, between 11:00 AM and 12:10 PM. PARKING LOT 115, 1600 East 20th Street Criminal Mischief: A UT student reported the passenger side window of his Saturn was discovered broken out. The student inventoried his vehicle and did not notice any property missing from inside the vehicle. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between: 1-18-11 and 2-07-11. W.C. HOGG BUILDING, #2 East Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject entered into the building and began asking students questions about the Tower Incident as well as directions to PCL. He informed them he was intrigued by the events on the tower and had spoken to the spirit of the shooter to better understand his motives. Officers searched the area and located the subject on the PCL plaza. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 2-07-11, at 10:50 AM. 2100 WHITIS AVE Assault: A UT student reported hearing a female voice repeatedly scream, “Let me go!” and “Leave me alone.” The student observed an Asian female being grabbed in a “bear hug” by an unknown white male wearing a dark colored hoodie with white strips running along the sleeves. The subject left the area when the student yelled at the subject. The victim also left the area prior to the arrival of the responding police officers. During the investigation, the officers located a subject matching the description inside the Jester Academic portion of the building. The officers learned the subject had several prior Criminal Trespass Warnings and was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 2-05-11, at 9:10 PM. The UT Police Department is asking for your assistance in locating the victim in this case. If you or anyone you know has information pertaining to this case, you are encouraged to contact the UT Police Department at: 512-471-4441 or you can make an anonymous tip at our website: www.utexas.edu/police UTPD needs to identify the victim before the suspect can be appropriately charged for the assaultive behavior. 2200 BLOCK COMAL Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out in large clump of fountain grass. He was not responsive to several UT staff members that attempted to wake him up. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted other signs of intoxication. The subject was confused and did not know where he was or how he had gotten there. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 2-08-11, at 5:37 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 22 Alarm Calls, 2 Fire Alarms, 5 Burned Out Lights, 4 Suspicious Activity reports, and 4 Unsecured Door reports between 02/07/11 and 02/08/11.
