Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Tuesday, 02/22/11 and Wednesday, 02/23/11. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3350 Lake Austin Blvd. Theft: A red Raleigh mountain bicycle with a white basket and fenders was reported stolen after being secured with a master combination lock. Loss value: $75.00. Occurred between 2-21-11 and 2-22-11. MAIN BUILDING, #1 South Mall Theft: A white Haro mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a two-lock locking system. Loss value: $1,400.00. Occurred on: 2-22-11, between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. MAIN BUILDING, #1 South Mall Theft: An Apple keyboard and mouse were reported stolen from an unsecured second floor office. Loss value: $25.00. Occurred between 2-21-11 and 2-22-11. PARKING LOT 80, 1900 Red River Graffiti: A UT Police Officer discovered words written in white indelible marker on a metal sign. Estimated Loss: $50.00. Discovered on: 2-23-11, at 4:12 AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Disorderly Conduct: Several UT students reported two UT students appeared to be fighting on the 3rd floor. The officers located the students and learned they had been wrestling. The wrestling match began after one student grabbed the other student’s IPod and began sending messages that were intended to embarrass the other. Both students were given verbal warnings for Disorderly Conduct. Occurred on: 2-22-11, at 11:30 PM. PHARMACY BUILDING, 2409 University Ave Failure to Identify: Several UT Police Officers responded to the 4th floor after receiving information a non-UT subject was seen entering into unsecured staff and faculty offices. When the subject saw the officers enter on to the floor the subject entered an office, and began taking sneaking quick peeks into the hallway to locate the officers. During the investigation, the subject provided the officers with a name and date of birth. A short time later, the subject gave the officers a different date of birth. The subject was taken into custody for Failure to Identify and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 2-22-11, at 12:28 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: The information the officers based their arrest on was information provided to them by a very observant faculty member. I am currently making arrangements to deliver him a pizza of his choice. Great job. Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: As we have seen on the television, the Austin Police Department and the Greater Austin Crime Commission have partnered up and will be participating the Guns for Groceries program on 2-26-11. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 19 Alarm Calls, 1 Call Box Alarm, 2 Suspicious Persons Reports, 1 EMS call, and 14 Unsecured Door Reports between 02/22/11 and 02/23/11.
