Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 03/10/11 and Friday, 03/11/11. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** As you have seen over the last few days there has been an increase in the number of Burglary of Motor Vehicles parked near the Baseball Stadium and Softball Stadium. The UT Police Department would like to remind everyone to hide all of your valuables inside the vehicle. Do not leave GPS mounts in plain view. The most common item being taken is loose change inside the ashtray or cup holder. Remove all unnecessary items like loose change from your vehicle. The UT Police Department would like to encourage everyone to report suspicious activity you see near or within the parking lots and parking garages. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member reported a non-UT subject entered into a restricted area looking for a place to sleep. The staff member told the subject to leave the building. During the investigation, the officers located the subject sleeping on a bench. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 3-11-11, at 4:08 AM. PARKING LOT 39, 2300 Block Red River Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT staff member discovered the right front passenger window of her car broken and the contents of her vehicle had been thrown about inside her vehicle. Repair value: $150.00. Occurred between: 3-10-11, at 5:00 PM and 3-11-11, at 2:02 AM. PARKING LOT 102, 2201 Comal Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT Police Officer observed two vehicles with the car alarm systems activated. The officer discovered the passenger window broken out. The stereo were still intact inside both vehicles. The officers were unable to determine what personal property was missing. Repair value: $150.00. per vehicle. Discovered on: 3-10-11 at 8:32 AM. PARKING LOT 103, 2100 Comal Burglary of Motor Vehicle: While investigating two prior BOVs, officers discovered a third vehicle parked inside another lot with broken out driver’s side window. The officers were unable to locate the owner of the vehicle and were unable to determine if any personal property was missing. Repair value: $150.00. Discovered on: 3-10-11, at 8:40 AM. PARKING LOT 115, 1600 East 20th Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed walking up to a parked vehicle and looking inside. The officers located the subject as he was leaving the parking lot. The subject admitted that he was looking into a vehicle because he likes upholstery. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 3-11-11, at 3:29 AM. ROBERTS HALL DORMITORY, 303 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass: A UT staff member observed three UT students enter into a restricted area and gain access to the roof. The staff member located and identified all three students. When informed the UT Police Department had been notified, all three subjects left the area prior to being released. All three students were referred to the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 3-10-11, at 3:15 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Suspicious Person: A UT staff member witnessed a non-UT subject exit the creek and walk to the bike racks located on the east side of the San Jacinto Residence Hall and remove a pink bicycle with silver streamers on the handlebars. The subject rode away heading west. During the investigation, the officers located the subject and the hot pink bicycle. The bicycle was not reported stolen, nor was it registered with the University of Texas. The subject and the bicycle were fully identified and released at the scene. Occurred on: 3-10-11, at 3:05 PM. 1900 BLOCK LEONA Burglary of Motor Vehicle: UT Police Officers discovered the driver’s side window of a GMC broken out. During the investigation, the officer learned a Tom-Tom GPS system and mount had been stolen. Repair value: $150.00. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred between: 3-8-11 and 3-11-11. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 17 Alarm Calls, 1 Welfare Concern, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 Suspicious Persons Reports, 1 Malfunctioning Light report, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 03/10/11 and 03/11/11.
