Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Monday, 03/14/11 and Tuesday, 03/15/11. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** As you have seen over the last few days there has been an increase in the number of Burglary of Motor Vehicles parked all over campus. The UT Police Department would like to remind everyone to hide all of your valuables inside the vehicle. Do not leave GPS mounts in plain view. Common items being taken include loose change inside the ashtray or cup holder. Remove all unnecessary items like loose change from your vehicle. The UT Police Department would like to encourage everyone to report suspicious activity you see near or within the parking lots and parking garages. PARKING LOT 80, 1900 Red River Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed sitting at a bus stop working on a small bicycle. The subject informed the officers that he had fallen, but had been able to get up. The subject informed the officers this was the second time he had been stopped and talked to by the University of Texas Police Department in just a few days. The subject told the officers that he did not break into cars and simply wanted to go home. As the investigation continued, the officer discovered the subject was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The subject was taken into custody and a search incidental to his arrest revealed he was in possession of marijuana as well as a common burglary tool. The subject was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement actions taken, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 3-15-11, at 12:12 AM. PARKING LOT 104, 1900 North IH35 Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A Police Officer discovered the driver’s side window of a Mitsubishi broken and the contents of the vehicle were thrown throughout the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle stated his wallet, Texas Driver’s License, UTID, $11.00 in cash, and various credit cards had been stolen. Loss value: $18.00. Occurred on: 3-14-11, between 10:20 PM and 10:30 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 11 Alarm Calls, 2 Call Box Alarms, 2 Welfare Concerns, 2 Suspicious Persons Reports, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 03/14/11 and 03/15/11.
