Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 03/17/11 and Friday, 03/18/11. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** As you have seen over the last few weeks there has been an increase in the number of Burglary of Motor Vehicles parked all over campus. The UT Police Department would like to remind everyone to hide all of your valuables inside the vehicle. Do not leave GPS mounts in plain view. Common items being taken include loose change inside the ashtray or cup holder. Remove all unnecessary items like loose change from your vehicle. The UT Police Department would like to encourage everyone to report suspicious activity you see near or within the parking lots and parking garages. FRANK ERWIN CENTER, 1701 Red River Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed kicking at an exterior door leading into the building. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers that he had been to a downtown establishment the night before. Due to the shenanigans the night before he had awoken to discover he did not know where he was nor how he had gotten there. The officers issued the subject a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 3-17-11, at 8:16 AM. PERRY-CASTENADA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: An Apple laptop computer was reported stolen after being left unattended on a table outside of the PCL Library. During the investigation the officer learned the victim had taken the time to engrave her driver’s license number onto her property as well as register it with the UT Police Department. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on: 3-17-11, between 4:50 PM and 6:00 PM. 300 BLOCK WEST 20th STREET Criminal Mischief / Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer observed several non-UT subjects passing an object back and forth. During the investigation, the officer discovered one subject had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant for Public Intoxication. The subject was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant and placed into the back of the police vehicle. The subject began using his body to damage inside the patrol vehicle. The subject was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken the subject was charged with Criminal Mischief. Estimated damage: $500.00. Occurred on: 3-17-11, at 10:08 PM. 600 BLOCK COLORADO Failure to Identify: A UT Police Officer observed a non-UT subject attempt to enter into a restricted area. The subject forced his way past a locked gate. The officer ordered the subject out and the subject refused several times. During the investigation the subject provided the officer two false dates of birth as well as a false name. When the officer realized he had been lied to twice, the subject was taken into custody for Failure to Identify and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-18-11, at 1:46 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 24 Alarm Calls, 2 Call Box Alarms, 1 Fire, 2 Welfare Concerns, 2 Suspicious Persons Reports, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 03/17/11 and 03/18/11.
