Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 03/18/11 and Monday, 03/21/11. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE ***** As you have seen over the last few weeks there has been an increase in the number of Burglary of Motor Vehicles parked all over campus. The UT Police Department would like to remind everyone to hide all of your valuables inside the vehicle. Do not leave GPS mounts in plain view. Common items being taken include loose change inside the ashtray or cup holder. Remove all unnecessary items like loose change from your vehicle. The UT Police Department would like to encourage everyone to report suspicious activity you see near or within the parking lots and parking garages. CONFERENCE CENTER PARKING GARAGE, 1900 University Ave Criminal Mischief: A UT student discovered the right rear passenger window of her 2003 Toyota had been shattered. During the investigation, the officer noted the window had been struck with an unknown object. Loss value: $150.00. Discovered on: 3-20-11, at 4:30 PM. FRANK ERWIN CENTER, 1701 Red River Theft: A non-UT subject reported her Nokia cellular telephone had been stolen after an event at the FEC. During the investigation, the victim stated she had gotten back to her vehicle when she discovered she was no longer in possession of her property. Loss value: $50.00. Occurred on: 3-5-11, between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM. HARRY RANSOM CENTER, 300 West 21st Street Criminal Trespass: A UT staff member discovered a non-UT subject sleeping under a bush located on the east side of the building. During the investigation, the officer learned the subject had received a prior written Criminal Trespass Warning a few weeks ago. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-20-11, at 2:00 PM. INTERMURAL FIELDS, 4901 Guadalupe Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A non-UT subject discovered the driver’s side window of his 2006 Honda broken out. During an inventory of the vehicle, the officer learned a black backpack containing personal identification, credit cards, Canon digital camera, and a cellular telephone charger had been stolen. Loss value: $260.00. Occurred on: 3-20-11, between 11:30 AM and 3:36 PM. UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE, 1701 Manor Rd. Graffiti: A word written in white indelible marker was discovered on the northeast corner of the building. Estimated repair: $50.00. Discovered on: 3-21-11, at 2:21 AM. 600 BLOCK COLORADO Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered staggering back and forth as he attempted to navigate the straight contours of a sidewalk. The officers observed the subject lose his balance and almost fall into a fountain. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted other signs of intoxication. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 3-19-11, at 12:59 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 44 Alarm Calls, 5 Call Box Alarms, 1 Fire,2 Fire Alarm calls, 2 Welfare Concerns, 2 Suspicious Persons Reports, and 10 Unsecured Door Reports between 03/18/11 and 03/21/11.
