Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Monday, 03/21/11 and Tuesday, 03/22/11. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: Three UT students reported their black Apple iPhones had been stolen while they played basketball on the north court. Loss value: $100.00 for each phone. Occurred on: 3-21-11, between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft of Service: A UT student obtained a hand stamp so he could enter the gym without swiping his UTID. The student left after receiving the stamp. A second subject then entered the gym with a faded stamp on his hand. During the investigation the officers learned the student had pressed his hand to transfer the ink stamp to the non-UT subject’s hand. The non-UT subject was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and the student was referred to the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 3-21-11, at 4:00 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported an orange colored backpack containing a brown leather wallet, several credit cards, personal identification, $40.00 cash, and a GPS system was stolen after being left unattended. Loss value: $110.00. Occurred on: 3-21-11, between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM. PARKING LOT 103, 2100 Comal Criminal Mischief: A UT Police Officer discovered the rear window of a green Honda broken out. During the investigation, the officer learned no personal property had been taken from the vehicle. Loss value: $150.00. Discovered on: 3-21-11, at 6:43 PM. REC SPORTS CENTER, 2001 San Jacinto Blvd. Theft: A UT student reported his brown leather wallet containing $47.00 in cash, personal identification, and several credit cards were stolen from a closed backpack. During the investigation, the officers learned the backpack had been left unattended next to the basketball courts. The victim stated he had observed two unknown subjects sitting next to his property while he was on the courts playing. Both subjects left the area prior to the discovery of the theft. The first subject was described as: Black male, 5’-10” with short hair and a goatee. Subject was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts. The second subject was described as: Hispanic male short hair. The subject was last seen wearing a red shirt and shorts. Loss value: $55.00. Occurred on: 3-21-11, between 8:45 PM and 9:30 PM. 100 BLOCK WEST 22nd STREET Theft: A red and black Cerbelo mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the south side of Garrison Hall. During the investigation, the officer learned the bicycle had been secured to the bike racks with a self-locking cable lock. As the investigation continued the officer located a possible witness to the crime. A UT staff member had observed an unknown White male sitting next to the bike. The unknown subject was described as: White male, 25 to 35 years of age, 6’-2” and was last seen wearing sunglasses, tan cap, and a white t-shirt. Loss value: $4,500.00. Occurred on: 3-21-11, between 10:50 AM and 11:05 AM. 2600 BLOCK WHITIS AVE Criminal Mischief: A UT student discovered the rear tire of her bicycle had been cut. Loss value: $50.00. Discovered on: 3-22-11, at 1:06 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 26 Alarm Calls, 1Welfare Concern, 2 Suspicious Persons Reports, and 8 Unsecured Door Reports between 03/21/11 and 03/22/11.
