Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Tuesday, 03/22/11 and Wednesday, 03/23/11. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A UT student reported his HTC My Touch cellular telephone and $40.00 in cash stolen after these items were removed from a closed backpack. During the investigation, the officer learned the student had placed his backpack next to a basketball court and left the property unsecured. Loss value: $140.00. Occurred on: 3-22-11, between 9:10 PM and 9:19 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A UT student reported his HTC Helios cellular telephone and a black leather wallet containing personal identification and a bank debit card stolen. During the investigation, the officer learned these items had been left unattended and unsecured while the student was playing basketball. Loss value: $220.00. Occurred on: 3-22-11. LAKE AUSTIN CENTER, 3001 Lake Austin Blvd. Theft: A black digital Fuji camera was reported stolen after being left unattended inside an unsecured 4th floor conference room. Loss value: $300.00. Occurred on: 3-22-11, between 12:10 PM and 12:35 PM. PARKING LOT 104, 1900 Block N. IH-35 Graffiti: Unreadable letters written in black indelible marker were discovered on the side of a trashcan. Estimated repair value: $50.00. Discovered on: 3-23-11, at 5:23 AM. PERRY-CASTENEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A black backpack containing a computer mouse, ear buds, computer cords and blank checks was reported stolen after being left unsecured and unattended on the 3rd floor. Loss value: $98.00. Occurred on: 3-22-11, between 6:10 PM and 6:17 PM. WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Guadalupe Criminal Trespass Warning (2 Counts): Two non-UT subjects were reported to be sleeping on the east side of the building. During the investigation, the officers located both subjects and issued them written Criminal Trespass Warnings and escorted them from the area. Occurred on: 3-22-11, at 4:45 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST 7th STREET Public Intoxication: A UT staff member discovered a UT student sitting next to a pillar screaming. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath and learned she had been to a downtown establishment. While talking to the student, the student’s boyfriend arrived and assumed care and custody of her until she sobered up and was no longer a danger to herself or to others. The student received a referral to the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 3-23-11, at 3:18 AM. 1700 BLOCK EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Graffiti: Words and letters written in black magic marker were discovered on a University of Texas Emergency Call Box. Estimated repair: $50.00. Discovered on: 3-23-11, at 4:58 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 Alarm Calls, 1Welfare Concern, 2 Suspicious Persons Reports, 3 Malfunctioning Light reports, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 03/22/11 and 03/23/11.
